Fernando Alonso is viable Mercedes' option for 2016 Formula One season | Autoweek His other choices are interesting. Does anyone think LH would actually leave MB in the next 2 years?
Methinks Lewis is gonna jump to McHonda when they are up to speed. You know, Senna complex and all.LOL
It's just negotiation tactics to keep Lewis's demands in check - duh! Only Lewis can screw up his own contract by asking too much If he is reasonable then Merc are good to go.
Perhaps Toto wants to start another war between Lewis and Fernando so that they take each other out, leaving the door wide open for his darling Susie to fill the seat? Cunning fella that Toto.
Let's be honest here, the truth of the matter is that Alonso really wanted to go to Mercedes in the hope of an easy WDC - As I see it, McLaren are just a stop-gap for him. He bailed out of Ferrari to make sure he would be available and is probably now praying that Lewis leaves Mercedes after 2015 so he can do his usual walk-out on his current team (in this case McLaren - again!), and go straight to Mercedes. Mercedes are aware of this and are using it as leverage against Lewis (probably to try to keep the salary demands as low as possible), but if Lewis wins the 2015 WDC then with 3 WDC's under his belt, he may feel comfortable enough to move back to McLaren to try to emulate Senna and win a WDC with McLaren/Honda. Should that happen then Alonso would be the best driver to seek as a replacement.
Lewis is getting played and he can't do crap about it . The days of paid f1 driver's is over there are more good driver's than seats . Everyone in f1 knew that Fred was after lewis seat and he's got money from santander to buy the seat . I've said it before AMG would love the deal that santander had with ferrari they pay Fred and give the 10 to 15 million on the side . This is f1 was most of the time one or two factory cars and the rest back makers . The golden years where 90 to 10 after that it's a side show drivers can't touch no refueling push button to pass and flash light batteries to help the turbo spin up .
German car? The chassis is made in the UK. The engine/power unit is made in the UK. The engines management system is made in the UK. The factory where the car is built is in the UK. The mechanics who build/work on the car are mainly from the UK. Even the Mercedes badge proudly displayed on the nose is made in the UK! The car's are about as German as Toto's wife!
German money. Why would Toto be different from any other team manager. With one exception they'd all give their left nut to have Alonso.
I paid for My Ferrari in Pounds Sterling, it doesn't make the car English! (Be aware that this is a major bug-bear of Mine for both Mercedes and Red Bull. Both cars are built in the UK and almost all of the staff are from the UK but when their cars finish first, the people and who actually build the car and the nation that they are actually from get no recognition whatsoever due to a slip of paper stating where the team is registered. Mercedes or Red Bull winning is a German or Austrian Victory? - Ssshhyyeeaah!......Right! )
Unless suddenly British Leyland comes back to life and starts funding F1 teams, without the money from the huns those proud Brits who build F1 cars would be unemployed or building another less interesting but genuinely British cars like Rolls-Royces or Minis. Oh, wait...
According to Flavio Briattore, Toto didn´t even bother. For a strange reason, the F1 world does not seem to revolve around Alonso.
Toto is playing with fire here, Withmarash tried the same tactics, look what he ended up with. Well he is kinda of a superstar/racer. I dont get the rapper remark though. Switch the pp for a c.
Just yankin ya chain with that one. A team's spirit isn't solely defined by geography though. All teams are made up of oeople from all over the globe. There is a German-ness to MB that transcends its English roots.
Last I looked it is a MB. That is German. Toyotas are Japanese, but most Camrys are made in the USA. Except in NASCAR, still Japanese. And the content of most American cars, mostly out of the USA, still, American cars. My point in response to MB shedding Rosberg, doubtful, he is popular in Germany. And he is as fast as LH. He is liked by the BOD of MB.
FIX't If Flav says so.... Toto has a set driver lineup. Were he starting from scratch Alonso would get a call.
He could have got riddden of Rosberg just not extending his contract and hire Alonso but still passed. Probably he knows that thing of "never change a winning team".
Given all that, in which I assume is all assumption and not fact. It's a wonder how Lewis won another WDC with Merc, under such circumstances, it's truly a even more amazing feat than in which one would think possible...
