As Ford announces '999' as its new performance division! What, F150 wasn't enough? LOL
Hope the new Ferrari goes like a bat out of hell in the hands of Kimi and Kid Index.

Of course, "666" is just the internal project number, which is rarely used externally (though the similar numbers 640 through 643 were used quite a lot in 1989-1991).

The F14T did not flatter its fighter counterpart (the F-14 Tomcat), so I wonder if this year's will be the F15T (emulating the F-15 Eagle?).

I'm thinking that it might be called F15H. Bernie is very high on emphasizing the hybrid connection, and often insists that the current F1 cars be called hybrids.

Actually, the F14T was severely underpowered. Lots of F14s crashed.

The F14's strength was its long range missiles and radar, and variable swept wings.

Considering the Ferrari was underpowered, but had an odd suspension design for better aerodynamics, F14 wasn't a bad thing to call it. :p

Yes indeed: it's a well know fact that the F-14 inherited the TF-30 engine from the F-111 as some form of "temporary measure", the Navy having in mind a switch to the P&W F 401-400 or the P&W F-100 as the "definitive" F-14 engine, at the time of its development; but the "temporary" TF-30 stayed with the bulk of the F-14 fleet, meaning the aircraft was always underpowered.
Only the small numbers of airframes that received the GE F 110-400 took the F-14 to the level of performance where it should have been from the beginning.

As for the "long range missiles", the performance of the AIM-54 Phoenix has been questioned over time: used only twice in action over Irak in 1999, it never scored.

    Sorry for the "aside"

Not to worry, they will take the Ferrari F1 to Vatican City and get it blessed.
Hopefully blessed to win more races. :)

I think this a joke about last year's car. It was a beast in the worst sense of the word. This year they aim to kill it or at least tame it. Remember they are Italian.
