Actually, Williams painted the car after the original factory painter was wounded by a runaway spray gun which entangled his neck. Williams was able to grab the gut of control gun, untangle the painter as he was passing out form lack of oxygen and simultaneously lay down a flawless coat of paint. Unfortunately, at the time of the incident, the camera crew were across the street having pizza, so there is no video record. But, Williams and the painter are now close friends and Williams has purchased a California T as a sign of respect and solidarity with all Ferrari painters. Williams plans to accept charitable contributions for rides in his new Ferrari, with all proceeds going to the Wounded Painters Foundation.
As Mercedes goes more mirror-like, Ferrari develops a paint that doesn't reflect and Red Bull goes complete camo. But the winners so far are Force India, Catheram and Marussia for their invisible paint.
