2015 Fantasy F1 Racing (Spoilers!)

Greetings

I have been Commissioner of a season-long fantasy F1 league for a couple of years; it was founded by some friends of mine a while back. Some of you here have been playing in past years. Participants have to choose 5 drivers, a chassis and an engine while staying within a tight budget, and points are determined by the accomplishments of those components.

Last year, Lena Tecnologia won both the Constructor and Driver championships with a Mercedes-heavy team.

2015 driver/chassis costs have not yet been revealed -- they will be later this month. So please ignore the 2014 costs still in the ruleset.

Hi gang!

The 2015 campaign is over, and I would like to recognize the season
podium finishers for each league

In the Founders' League, Team Numero Uno won 8 races and had 7 other
podium finishes to power past all the competition. The team wins both
the Constructor and Drivers championships. Behind them, Scuderia
Modificata placed 2nd in the Constructors contest and 3rd in the
Drivers. This Year Maybe! placed 3rd in the Constructors contest, and
2nd in the Drivers, on the strength of 8 wins and 4 podium finishers.

Other race winners this year include Team Really Green, Massive
Repercussions, Red Bull Racers, DogGone Racing, and Lena Tecnologia.
Black Flag Racing was the highest placed team without a win, at 6th,
and Clingfilm Rockets at 10th was the highest placing team without a
podium finish.

In the Ferrarichat League, Scuderia Modificata won the unified
Constructors and Drivers championships. The Constructors championship
was determined in the last race, with only 15 points separating the
team from Lena Tecnologia. To put it another way, after a full season
there was only a 0.5% difference between the teams at the end. Team
Massive Implications won 4 races on the way to a third place finish.
On the Drivers championship, Lena Tecnologia and Massive Implications
swap places, with MI taking 2nd.

Other teams scoring race victories this year include Team GerBaro,
Muppet Motorsports, Team Almost Green, Gnu F1 Gold, Team Williamson,
Gnaturally Awesome, Shaky GP FC, Team Rumblefish, and Horner's
Hornettes.

Special mention to Team Williamson, for cracking the top 10 in the
team's rookie season and finishing a strong 8th.

In the Second Season, an early contender was stricken from the track
for cheating (actually, it was my team, and an eagle-eyed member of
the league noticed a particularly nasty spreadsheet error after a few
races. Fully accidental, but I felt it best to remove all doubt by
withdrawing. Thanks to that member for finding it!).

This championship, believe it or not, came down to press releases.
Muppet Motorsports was a strong team, but missed three press releases
and was penalized twice. This should have destroyed the season, but
at Abu Dhabi The FrontRunner! failed to post a press release for the
second time this season. The resulting 117 point penalty means that
Muppet Motorsports wins the Constructors championship 675 to 673.
Horner's Hornettes finished third with 668 points.

Mikoji and Total Rekall won race victories during the season.

Muppet Motorsports wins the Drivers championship running away, with
Team Re-Gnu-ed and The Frontrunner! filling out the podium.

I would like to thank you all again for playing. It won't be long
before the 2016 season starts, with a Red Bull-TAG team on the grid,
competing against a factory Renault team and a new Ferrari-powered US
team. If nothing else, change is a constant in the world of F1, and
the IFGP.
