Most probably, it's over... F1: Boss of Hockenheim gives up on trying to save 2015 German GP - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com Rgds
It's a real shame... though I was never a fan of the shorter Hockenheim to tell you the truth. I hope they can come up with a long term plan. I won't be able to comprehend not going to Germany. Imagine no race in Italy or Britain. Crazy...
Given the current state of most of the grid - this is no shock at all. A very large symptom of a much larger F1 problem. Bernie should make this happen and sort it formally next year. Hockenheim is 1 hour from me, s0 easy place to travel to and enjoy a major racing event. There was never a real solution to this and the news has been bad for sometime now. I was waiting simply for this announced.
well yeah, but it was SUPPOSED to be at Nurburgring this year, but the new owners couldn't get a deal worked out, so Hockenheim was the backup for this year. Maybe an F1 race on the Autobahn, 2 hour straight shot from Stuttgart to Hockenheim or something!
So, no French GP for already a few years, not German GP this year, and the Italian GP is also under threat. Those who are old enough will remember that we used to have a Dutch GP, a Swedish GP and a San Marino GP too. Now, only the Middle East and the Far East countries can really afford the licensing fees imposed by Ecclestone, even COTA is baulking at the cost. The center of gravity has surely moved East. Bernie is doing such a great job ...
The minute I read that Bernie had been outbid for the ring I had a horrible feeling things in Germany were going to go pear shaped. Bernie having to hand over 100 million euros to the German courts was just the final nail.
You hit the nail on the head - its not F1, it is Europe broken economic model is catching up to it. And the USA is trying to copy the European model...
In glorious (ex) Soviet Union all things are possible. What does it say when F1 thrives in kleptocracies?
Well, no big loss, IMO, from a fan's point of view. The new layout is one of the most boring on the current calender. I understand from the tradition perspective, but, for me personally, no big deal. I hope we don't lose other traditional circuits though.
I think a country that occupies Guantanamo against the wish of its rightful owner deserves to be called a kleptocracy, don't you agree?
Re. Hawai. In 1993, a joint Apology Resolution regarding the overthrow was passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Bill Clinton. The resolution apologized for the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom and admitted that the United States had annexed Hawaii unlawfully. So, what do you call that then?
