Interesting question. I am hoping LH will. But, if SV did equal Senna's wins, it will be smashed by LH this year anyway.
I think vettel may match senna first as he only needs one victory but I think lewis may surpass him first. Hopefully lewis matches him first too
Let me guess, you "opinion" is purely based on statistics as you mentioned "at this point". As soon as Hamilton will have more than 41 victories you will tell us that he is a better racer than Senna was...But at the same time you call Vettel average because he "just won in a RB"...Another thread with no other goal than telling us how great your beloved Hamboy is, useless....
no. My point is that Hamilton and Vettels careers are but half done so who knows what can happen in the next 5 years or so. And no it is not just about number of victories obviously. It is about a lot of different things
+1 Neither of them are, yet anyway, fit to carry his jock. "And you tell the young people of today that, they won't believe you."
I'm thinking that at this point toil is actually lewis hamilton himself... Neither ham nor vettel are on the same level as Senna was.
There were way less races on Sienna's day, and plenty of proper competition compared to these times of outright dominance and lack of development opportunity. Neither can hold a candle to senna, Prost, lauda, Schumacher or alonso in terms of racecraft or ability I hope Ferrari get their car sorted to stop that dopey rap boy getting any closer to any records, but I fear he will get there first due to the Mercedes overall performance. Maybe nico can step up and start winning, rather than letting the team push him to the role of rear gunner - Ricardo patrese he doesn't want to be
While I agree on the talent level, there were 16 races back then and they had outright dominance. Williams and McLaren dominated the 80's and 90's during senna's time. However he was able to win in a far inferior lotus compared to the 2 dominators.
Hamilton is not even close to the level of talent of Alesi or Hakkinen, let alone Senna or prost.....I can forgive the o.p because he probably never saw a "real" driver in his life and so he believe Hamiboy is some sort of god on wheels but, anyone who as seen races since the early 80s at least knows better!!
Such is the progression in sport that drivers actually get better as time goes on not worse. The same is true in all sports - as science progresses and people become fitter etc all records start to fall. Hamilton is already clearly in the top 10 drivers of all time and already in a lot of peoples top 5. Furoni is obviously trolling because hakkinen and most especially alesi were clearly not as good as hamilton is. As for senna, here is a good read: Prost vs Senna: Not Close! - Independent Critics by TC Candler | Independent Critics by TC Candler Dominant cars have always been a part of f1 so whoever said otherwise is wrong. Look at the dominant drivers over each generation: 2005-2015: vettel hamilton and alonso 1995-2004: just schumacher really and ️maybe hakkinen 1985-1994: prost senna and then the emergence of schumacher began 1975 - 1984: lauda piquet 1965-1974: Stewart etc etc It is supremely arrogant and short sighted to list the top drivers of the current generation as below mid tier drivers of previous ones...
