...In Marinello, does everyone drive their F-car on Monday? How about for a 1-2 both Monday and Tuesday? Just me?
...In my hurry, I misspelled Maranello. Rookie mistake and I apologize to all the Tifosi I may have offended... As far as I can see, the bell-ringing goes back at least to 1951 where the bell at the Marano castle would ring to signify a victory by the Ferrari team. Somewhere along the line, the local priest at the church in Maranello took up the tradition and it's stuck ever since. It's in an article written by Jose Gonzalez who started driving for Enzo back in 1951. Does anyone have more info on the bells? Does anyone else have a Ferrari tradition like I do following an F1 victory? Ciao.
FWIW, you should probably include a 'spoilers' in this thread's title. Anyway... I didn't know of this tradition, but I'd love to be there when it happens! Very cool.
...but after I typed this, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the cat's already out of the bag due to the other 1000 threads "not" spoiling the race for anybody!
Top Gear/Clarkson had a Ferrari special in the late eighties or early nineties and already covered the bell ringing by the priest. I think a friend of mine was in Maranello once on a Sunday after a Ferrari victory and there were people and Ferraris on the streets celebrating.
I have a decent collection of Clarkson's various series but don't recall this; will have to find it. Do you recall which show that was? Original TG? Maybe the series call "Speed"?
Respectfully disagree as there are no results given within the thread. Merely asking if anyone has a Ferrari victory tradition. Cheers
Original TG one hour special. It has been reworked/updated one or two times. Edit: found a part of it on YT: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEfQ_oidXAc[/ame]
If you ever are in maranello on the Sunday raceday (as I have been at least once Every year over the last 20 years). Theres a place called the maranello cafe were the locals (and those in the know) meet to watch the race on a big out door tv screen at the rear of the cafe. If the sun is to hot or the cafe to busy, then Iterally right across the road is the ENZO auditorium, where for free they screen the race live on a giant indoor screen. The atmosphere in the square is electrifying Hes a Maranello cafe shot on a warm summers evening last month. Very cool. Last time i was in Marranello i was a poor college student at 20 years of age. Now at 34 Ive been a long time owner and plan to do a full tour and spend an entire day there rather than a 2 hr stopover.
Easy to spend a day there. I recommend you also visit Modena, several points of interest there. Just dont eat their famous sausage.
talking of ferrari restaurants The first picture is of the Montoya, a must for first timers until you know were to find the bette ones. The picture of the front of the restaurant is on the same square as the mananello cafe and the Enzo auditorium. Great food in there and some good ferrari memorabilia. This square is at the foot of the maranello hills, its were one of the ferrari test routs is, its glorious to hear the ferraris singing through the hills while sat in the square I always take the opportunity to take my 246 up the hills doing the route then drving back down to the smiles of the ferrari fans sat outside the cafes but i digress Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The bells are ringing in Maranello! The best possible result in Bahrain. We are driving our red 458 Italia to an Italian restaurant tonight.
