Any character portrayed by Robert De Niro will inevitably look and act like a gangster. At some point in the movie, we will forget the main character and start seeing De Niro - not the character.
Exactly. DeNiro has become type cast as either the gangster or the hapless senior white guy. He's a fine actor but I think he's sort of incapable of being accepted in a strictly bioghical role now. Even so, I understand he is going to play Ferrari in another movie.
Well, there is the problem. It is far easier to take a young actor and make him age than it is to take an older actor and make him look young. Everybody mentioned so far would be OK as the old Enzo. But, I doubt that the movie will begin in 1965.
If they want anything close to a mass audience they can't dwell too much in the pre-1960s, even though in many respects Ferrari's life during WW2 and its immediate aftermath, through to the Ford and FIAT negotiations are the most interesting eras.
Indeed. The building of the marque and the scuderia after WWII is the guts of the story, as I understand it. The rivalry with Ford is a high point, to be sure, as is the FIAT stuff. But the FIAT part might be getting into the weeds, unless it can be handled properly. So, part of the question is, will the movie focus more on Enzo the sportsman or Enzo the entrepreneur?
The movies being what they are, they'll probably dwell on the "personal relationships" and Scuderia drivers dying in blazing crashes......
Too bad bale won't do it. Both him and DeNiro have the weight gain/loss trick down for their movies. Maybe health wise it really is that bad for you To be fair I just can't see Bale as Enzo-but damn he was good for in the fighter. I remember telling my wife there was no way pretty boy batman was going to be believable in that part. Wow was I wrong
I think there are two movies about Ferrari in the works. De Niro has been touted for the role in one of them.
huh? One of his latest flick, the intern, hardly shows the gangster side of him. Very well acted, IMO.
His, Bales, emaciated weight loss for a few roles was more detrimental to his health than having to eat sauce & pasta for a extra 30 pounds. I think there is more to the story.
