I always like René....one of the fastest drivers i ever saw....few people realize this but, just look at the number of poles he's got!!! it's amazing for the time he drove!!!
He was a good driver, but erratic. I remember seeing him chewing his nails down to the quick, with that intense eagle eye look. he was always looking exasperated. He would eat with his hands at Ligier, right out of the pan, or bowl. I used to eat with the Ligier team a lot from 88 - 91... Arnoux would come in grab something and just eat it on the fly. in the evening it was like different person - calm and relaxed ... very nice. Still never could figure out what happened at Ferrari in 85.
