One of the best races of the year is here! :)

Weather is mixed and by no means warm - https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/weekend/l/CAXX0301:1:CA

I wonder how the tires selected will react?

Nice overview of the race and some history of it here from the BBC with some nice pics from the past - Canadian Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton will be hoping for Groundhog Day - BBC Sport

    Q - LH
    Nico
    Ricci

Race - LH - He loves this place and the Mercedes is fast
Nico - I think LH takes control now and I like Nico. Its close with LH but LH is just faster by .1 etc, and thats the difference
Kimi - Maybe he gets a 'clean race' LOL!

Kimi needs more that a clean race.... Take proper tire temperatures for a start.
With the current whether predictions it will not be a podium for Ferrari I fear.

I do like to see the Bulls taking the fight with MB and I think they will. With the b-spec Renault, both Rici and Max could provide the guys at MB a real challenge

my podium (with some pretty high wish-content:):))
    1 Smiley Boy
    2 Hami
    3 vMax

I would love to see MB take a loss in a straight fight on the track. I do like MB but it just would be great to see an other team beat them again finally. Just to spice it up!

Ferrari might only bring one new turbo to this race (unless they managed to build 2, not that hard I presume!), in which case it will go on Vettel's car. Vettel is quite strong here normally.

Last year's (2015) race temps. were 20–21°C (68–70°F) air temperature,
    39°C (102°F) track temperature.

Kimi clocked the fastest lap of 1:16,987 on Lap 42, so i am hoping for a podium finish.

I think Ferrari and Williams should look strong here. RBR not so much.
LewHam will hose the start as every race this season, making qualifying even more irrelevant than it usually is in Canada.
Time for a strong Ferrari showing.

Much lower chance of rain now for the weekend. Saturday will be the warmest at 24C.

    Wrong! They will make progress...backwards

I think LH will take this but then again I say that every race. Still worried about his poor starts as soon as he sorts that he will run away with the title

Its going to be all mercedes with nico leading the way. I have a bad feeling the ferrari engine upgrade won't do anything.

    Race:

    Mercedes
    Red Bull
    Ferrari

Unless mistake from the team or the drivers, I still expect Mercedes to dominate and one of them to win.

Red Bull is on a high, regularly in the hunt now. Ferrari not convincing yet.

Red Bull and McLaren are the teams that have made the most progress lately.

Red Bull is now just behind Mercedes and above Ferrari in team ranking, and McLaren has reached regular mid-field status, IMO.

The latest TAG-Heuer-badged Renault engine seems to be good in the Red Bull, but team Renault itself is going backwards since the acquisition form Lotus.
The relative inexperience of the Renault drivers alone cannot explain the lack of performance.

    That's pretty much a given.

You need to watch FP2 - The Ferrari is pretty fast around Montreal (in Seb's hands at least), and Red Bull are struggling a bit for both pace and handling so far.

McLaren? - Even with the improvements they're still over a second off the pace, and their drivers are having to work pretty hard to achieve that!

As for Renault: The speed of the Red Bull shows that the engine's not lacking too much, so it must be a seriously cr:censored:ap chassis that's their biggest issue.
