Following Force India owners Vijay Mallya and Subrata Roy's troubles, the Formula 1 team may be sold to Brabham. There are plans for a Brabham-branded supercar, which would be promoted by a new Brabham Formula 1 team, following the McLaren business model. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motorsport/brabham-supercar-and-f1-team-mooted
I thought David Brabham's crowdfunding model flopped. In the article says he's now looking to license the name, which sounds far more like Lotus 2.0 than McLaren. Either way, I really hope FI end up in good hands. Amazing to say it out loud, but it might be the best or one of the best run teams in F1. They consistently punch above their weight due to the decisions they take with regards to drivers, what to manufacture in-house vs. outsource (another area where Williams does poorly), investing in their own tunnel vs. renting others like Cologne, etc. It's also supposed to be one of the most cohesive and least internally political teams in the paddock. Too good an organization to get destroyed by falling into the wrong hands.
Hell, might as well dust off the old Hesketh name as well. At least they make some sweet motorcycles. Mark
Matra was great. What an engine noise from that V12! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybolc7vcV38[/ame]
I always like brabhma..their cars were always the most beautiful ones...i would like to see them again but with a competitive team...
You are right about Force India. It's probably one of the best run F1 teams, and they achieve much on what is a relatively low budget. I think Bob Fernley deserves much of the praise for his sensible management. If it's sold to new investors or rebranded Brabham is not an issue for me, as long as the team continues on it's path. It has been competing against Williams for a couple if seasons and achieving often better with a lesser budget. Their drivers line-up is also very good. I have been following Perez for a few years, and he is a steady driver, not WDC material, but skilled nevertheless.
And sweet ass parties. Quite suitable, too. Force India used to be Jordan, famed for his parties. Then it became Spyker (ok not famed for it's parties), but when VJ bought them, they became known for decent parties again!
+1...be nice to see the old Brabham name back again and FI is run just like it is....with some improvement.
I think Perez is better then many give him credit for..he and Hulkenberg were very well matched, and i rate Nico above Bottas...so i think in a winning car any of them can fight for a title....i wouldn't mind having perez at ferrari should Kimi leave.
What Jack Brabham accomplished back in the day was amazing! Would be nice to have the Brabham name back. Today's era is a totally different game!
Will we have better liveries from them again? Always liked this one, simple yet effective. Better than pink... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The painting was good but the lines !!! that thing is designed like a missile...now this is a beautifull car....not that crap they run today...
BT 54 is my idea of how the rules on aero should work. Single element front wing, a simple rear wing and no aero gadgets in from front to rear.
I recall that at some point in the season they reversed the color scheme, white to blue and vice versa. Beautiful design and presentation.
The BT55 is my favorite F1 design of all time. I wish it was more successful, but at least its MP4/4 relative showed it was a design headed in the right direction. I'm still waiting for a 1/18 model of that thing to be made all these years along with the other Brabham BMWs. All I have are the BT52 and 52b.
