LOL. Why would they want a 2nd tier driver whose fire is out? The young up and comer is what they are no doubt hunting for.
Sorry, you mean current world champion, and the man who beat elton at his own mind games, and against the wishes and ministrations of the team? He's a star, and quicker than elton. Sure, he'd be great as number two to vettel
He was rarely truly quicker than Elton, but had enough good fortune to avoid DNFs and score enough points to win last year. He knew he was unlikely to have such luck again, so retired while he was ahead. He is not a "defending champion" obviously. He's less impressive as "current champion" than Button, who was gifted his by a little diffuser in '09. If Rosie had won the WDC twice in a row against Elton, he would have shown than it was no fluke.
Lol. The qualifying head to head is 42 Ham and 36 Rosberg. And qualifying is hamilton's biggest strength. Nico was faster 36 times on a Saturday (46% of the time faster) - that's what is considered "rarely"? And just to put some context on that - Hamilton needed to get 4 consecutive poles at the end of 2016 just to pull that gap between them; it was sitting at 38-36 before that. As for DNFs - over the course of their seasons as teammates Rosberg had 8 DNFs and Hamilton had 7. I am a big Hamilton fan, but to deny that Rosberg is outstandingly quick and a worthy champion would be obtuse at best.
Elton did not beat Nico by much in either of the first two championship seasons, and needed team orders and machievellian manoevoers from Mercedes for that, when Nico finally decided enough was enough, he made sure he won. Elton even tried to destroy his own teams race in an effort to stop Nico getting the title, that's the calibre of the fool. Nico was a well deserved champion, and a great ambassador for the sport and his team. The same can't be said of elton, he is viewed as a tool by many, and a hero by brain dead millennials who don't watch F1, nor understand racing in general
Toto and Lauda talk out of their asses more than anyone in F1 history which is pretty amazing when you think about it
I would be surprised if Nico Rosberg was making any come back, in F1 or elsewhere. I think he meant it when he said he retired. He has other interests he wants to pursue and a family life too. I don't know where Toto Wolff gets these vibes ...
Thank you very much. Finally I have found a "big Hamilton fan" that is a reasonable person at the same time! If not all Hamilton fans could be a lot more like this...would take out a lot of heat over here.
Good post. Also makes MSC's comeback look better IMO. He tied Rosberg in qualifying his final season if I remember right. People didn't realize how good Rosberg was. Him and Hamilton were about as close to a match for each other as it can get between two drivers.
Rosberg left F1 because he didn't like the pressure. If he thought the pressure was too much at Merc, he's got no chance of coping at Ferrari. He's not going there.
I've been a fan of Nico since he drove for Williams, very fast, very consistent, but his downfall was always that he was a nice guy, too nice. That was the only difference between him and elton, Nico is too nice to hold a proper grudge and act on it, elton is so slimy he'd nail the coffin lid down on you before they pronounced you dead if it meant he could win something..... eventually, Nico loosened his principles and played just a little bit more ruthlessly, and won the title that could even have been number two, or three, had he been a more vicious competitor
