Wow... some grudges just don't go away! Is he sending a message to Merc? True Alonso pulled some stuff when he was at McLaren. But after 10 years you still say this? "Cannot live with in any way" -- pretty strong stuff! Hamilton: Alonso relationship was toxic | PlanetF1 : PlanetF1 While Alonso arrived at the team as a double World Champion, Hamilton was the rookie racer but one not willing to play second fiddle in any way. Now, a decade later, there is talk of the two again becoming team-mates as Alonso could be shopping for a new home in light of McLaren-Hondas on-going troubles. Hamilton, though, doesnt think it would work. Its not just about me, he told Spains El Pais, but the thousands of people who work in the team. My relationship with Fernando was toxic and it intoxicated the whole team. So yes it was personal. There are people with whom you get along and others who you cannot live with in any way. If you put two World Champions in the same team, each will try to do his best and will give way on a single corner, youre going to fight. We had too many friction.
Lewis is on top of his game and at the height of his power within Mercedes. He is doing what any other #1 driver would do.
This is the full interview GP Canadá de F1: Lewis Hamilton: ?La relación con Alonso era tóxica? | ICON | EL PAÍS Paints a slightly different picture. He was actually asked ' do you regret now that you do not have Fernando Alonso as your partner again'.....
Meaningless words from LH who is coached driver in many races. FA takes a lessor car and gets more out of it. Period. The better driver did not do the talking in that interview and I am not at all the most supportive fan of FA. He is simply the better driver. LH would have left Mclaren last week after the fiasco there and has no inclination to do what FA did at Indy. Indy certainly showed FA's talent as a racer. LH isnt even a good interview and needs an almost perfect car to be successful. He's flattered by the car rather than the other way around.
FA would own Hamilton if they were on the same team again. The only reason he was close was favoritism within McLaren (you are high if you didn't think Ron Dennis and a British team backed their British protege golden boy over Alonso once it was discovered he was quick). With as hungry as Alonso is I have little doubt he would defeat Hamilton if they were paired up again.
Nobody actually knows and I guess it is only speculation... But: again Lewis speaks against someone he might need to fear when joining Mercedes and all his fanboys should read this carefully as they still say that Lewis would happily race against everybody unlike Seb of Fred...but this is not true, he is in no way different from the others looking for a team mate who does not give him a hard time. There is nothing wrong with that but then should his followers finally stop talking the same nonsense about No1/2 status and how poor Lewis always fights with the greatest on and on again. They are all the same...
Apparently the 1-2 win for Mercedes for Hamilton feels alot better with Valterri than with Nico???? Hamilton: 'Mercedes one-two feels better with Valtteri' Hamilton: 'Mercedes one-two feels better with Valtteri than with Nico'
Alonso really was hated by some at McLaren. Ojjeh despised him and said he would never return to the team after his first stint there. He only returned because Ojjeh got desperately ill and Dennis turned on him.
After Indy, and then the bleacher tour near the end of the race Sunday, Hamilton maybe realizes that he would not be the fan favorite if Alonso joined him at Merc.
Not much to chose between Hamilton and Alonso, IMO. Both have a despicable personality in my book. Give me Vettel, Ricciardo or Bottas any day, rather than these 2. Personal opinion, of course...
Absolutely, and rumour has it, El Niño was having away days with a certain lady that upset things in the team
So what miracles did FA perform with a lesser performing Ferrari? By all accounts McLaren is a pretty handy car and he's getting the best out of it, so what. It's not like he won a race with it. On Sky broadcast of this weekend's GP, FA's engineer was heard advising him to stop short-shifting from 2nd to 3rd, to which he yelled back and challenged his engineer to tell him where he was doing that. Ultimately, the engineer was proved right.
He almost won a couple championships with the rubbish we had given him over the years, and massa was soundly beaten by him in their time together, and like it or not, massa is no Palmer
