I have no interest in seeing a hair dryer on wheels go around a track.

No shock at all here. This is part of racing for the future. What F1 becomes in the interim will seal its fate for the future. The ongoing debate this weekend was this. F-E or F1 and how does F1 differentiate to continue to thrive.

Sergio is keen to this. He see's what Porsche and Mercedes are doing and Im sure he was anticipating their moves towards F-E.

Put a prancing horse logo on it and people will watch.

A horse that is used to prance, could hurt itself very much once it starts falling!

Does Maserati or Alfa have a hybrid supercar where the technology can be used?

You add a device that simulates the sound of a Ferrari V-12, programmed to have the sound match the speed of the car at any point on the track. If it at least sounds like a V-12 (a sound not even heard in F1 for many years), who cares?:D

Maybe with a Sponsor like Pioneer in the 90s, but only for exhibitions laps and advertising purposes because it would consume more energy to generate the sound.
But it would be a very interesting detail.

Wether we (owners, tiffosi or enthusiasts) like it or not, with the fast obsolescence of the ICE - which is real, Ferrari will need to adapt its strategy fast.

The essence of Ferrari is its ICE heritage, but with the current legislation/consumer changes, the essence will probably need to be modified.

I'll stick to ICE cars, don't really care what Ferrari brings out in the full electric market I won't have it.

    I agree with you.

However, look at what happened these last few weeks: everybody jumping the "electric train"... including The Sweater.

As an individual I completely agree with you guys, of course. I'm in my forties, I was raised dreaming of ICE cars and Ferrari in particular. I love my F car and want to use it forever. ;)

However, I believe it is undeniable that unless something disruptive happens, the obsolescence of the ICE is real and its existence is threatened.

With more electric vehicles being bought, buyers will adopt an herd behavior and will start ostracizing ICE vehicles.
This is already observed in many city centers, where ICE vehicles have conditioned access, worst parking spots, etc..
Also, with a generalized use of the electric vehicle (or hydrogen), governments won't need to rely so much on ICE vehicle taxes, so will create even stricter laws towards this kind of vehicles.

Racing will reflect this tendency, i believe.

For now, lets celebrate the privilege of being able to drive our V8s and V12s!

    Very well said.

I also believe that it is not only a matter of "herd behavior", but a matter of "education", as well.

My two little nephews, for example, are for more environment-conscious than we ever were at that young age. Protecting and preserving a healthy environment is a given for them - and it is actively promoted at school. (I admit that two kids aren't very representative statistically - but you get my point.)

So: let's enjoy and celebrate as long as we can!
