I hope Ron Dennis can now enjoy a happy retirement, and not get involved in another F1 venture. It could only go downhill from now ...
Some guys aren't happy unless they're in the arena. To them, a bad fight is better than no fight. I think RD is one of those guys.
RD needs to stay retired - He has made some big mistake recently and Toro Rossa would add to them IMO
I say it's up to him if he wants to risk a few quid on another F1 team. He knows all it takes is a good sponsor or two and you're back in the black. Of course, there's not too many Marlboro's around anymore . . . .
I think there is a clause that Toro Rossi, ex-Minardi, must stay in Faenza, Italy. Mateschitz apparently had several prospective buyers in the past that couldn't observe that obligation.
There are rumours that he seriously looked at Force India with some of the same backers that he tried to get involved with the Mclaren buyout until they received the price it would take to own it outright. Force India would make sense as a project, but as already stated, a team based in Italy doesn't. Nor does the idea of him moving it to the UK given just what that would take.
Ha ha! I've met him more than once and heard enough about him to know this is a virtual impossibility. Gardening Leave isn't part of his DNA.
Such clauses are perfectly legal in Europe. You may have the right to buy a business, but the seller can stipulate on the contract that you can't move it. Quite common in fact. Welcome to European protectionism!!!
So keep the office open in Italy- make the cars in the UK ... I'd like to see Ron Dennis do it all over again - Project 4 racing ....
It's to prevent job exodus and keep employment and business activity in an area. The EU and the Eurozone in fact encourage such clauses to stop globalisation.
I applaud it. If the EU is responsible for it, well, that's something it's done properly....as long as they don't mandate it.
Hummmmm... Doesn't your president want the same to stop jobs migrating to Mexico? That's what I read, unless he has been misquoted.
