The image below came in to Jalopnik via an anonymous tipster.

"I was in Maranello last week and caught this mule pulling out of the R&D center of Ferrari. Not sure if it is old news as a 2010 Dino or some shooting brake concept that would get everyone at Jalopnik all hot and bothered but I thought I would pass it along. It sounded like a V8 to me as it pulled away."

Link to the article is here.

    Any ideas?

Really? There doesnt seem to be much room between where the driver's head is and the rear wheels. Granted, it has a very small front end, but it would have to be a transverse-mounted engine or a small displacement to be fitted mid-ship I think.

I pulled up a picture of a 348 and there is ALOT more distance between where the driver rests his back/head and the rear wheels.

Maybe a dino? mid-engine/transverse mounted V-6? Or maybe a revival of the 3x8 series, transverse V8?

I pulled up a picture of a 308 then a 328 and it looks similar distance wise (drivers back/head to rear wheel).

the front has lost some of it's disguise.

there are better photo's of the prototype that have yet to be posted. it is front engined and the car to be known as the gt california.

seeing as the disguise is starting to disappear, i think the car will be amazing

Since my subscription has run out, I can no longer upload pics, but looking at a pic of a Grantourismo from the same angle it is definitely the same car. Spyphotos of the Grantourissmo from a while back also looked similar.

With the look of that C-Pillar and the wheel haunches, I would hazard a guess that it is a 599 based project car.
