Whats the difference, and could you provide photos as well?

    Which do you prefer?

What about cleaning? Polishes and waxing as well? Upsides downsides etc??

    Best,
    Jon

As far as I know, the are VERY close. Flat is well, flat. Matte is just a little less flat. But not quite a semi gloss.

There are hundreds of shades to choose from and the lighting plays a part as well. Viewing them from a picture on a PC/laptop just won't show it well enough.

I would go with matte. Matte black is darker than flat black and, when clean, almost has a sheen to it.

I had the matt black "Boxer" paint trim applied to my car a few years ago, as that was the original finish on my car when new and I can say that it makes cleaning my car much easier and quicker. Especially when it comes to waxing; it doesn't need to be done (I only have to do the upper half of my car)! For this paint finish, simply cleaning with soapy water keeps it looking great.

One thing I would always do when thinking about painting a car of F or L pedigry... is take a few sample peices to have painted so I can see the differences in my hand while standing next to my car. No substitute for having the color, from the painter who will do the work, on a part you can see, feel, and get used to infront of you in all lighting conditions your car will be in normally.
