So, pick your top 10 most gorgeous cars. Lets limit this to the post War era. Cars that had somewhat significant production runs, lets say at least a couple of hundred. And only 2 Ferraris allowed on the list. Here goes for me (yeah, I know its more than 10 but I wanted to give you guys some ideas): Ferrari 275 GTB (I prefer the short nose) Ferrari 250 Lusso deTomaso Mangusta Lamborghini Miura Maserati Ghibli Jaguar XKE Aston Martin DB5 M-B Gullwing BMW 507 Roadster Plymouth 'Cuda AC/Ford/Shelby Cobra 427 Dino 246 GTS (hey - it wasn't branded a Ferrari so it sneaks in) covered headlights please ...and, since I am cheating - Ferrari 360 Modena coupe
10 cars is a lot, but ill try 5... from most to least.. 1. 288 GTO 2. 1969 Vette Convertible 3. Aston Martin DB5 4. Lambo Diablo 5. F50
In date order [roughly]: 1953 Fiat 8V Ghia Supersonic 1955 Jaguar D type long nose [BRG with fin] 1962 Chevrolet Corvair 2 seater by Pininfarina 1962 Ferrari 250 GTB Lusso 1962 Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale 1964 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato 1966 Jaguar E Type series 1, 4.2 litre 1973 Citroen DS Henry Chapron cabriolet 1994 Ferrari 355 GTB 1994 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Now, just to be controversial, my 5 uglies! Ferrari California! Morgan Aero [cross eyed] Pink Thunderbirds Any Scion Nissan cube
250 GTO Lusso 365 Daytona Spider (ok that's the ferrari's outta the way) Facel Vega HK500 on wires Iso Griffo Rivolta (with pop ups) Lamborghini Miura Porsche 911 (70's impact bumper) Bentley continental 2 door drop head (1950's) Rolls Royce Silver Dawn (1950's dawn) Mercedes 300SL Gullwing (50's too) Tucker Torpedo
In no order, off the top of my head and subject to change: Ferrari 246 Dino GT Ferrari 250 California Spyder SWB Ferrari 250 GT SWB Ferrari 599 GTO Aston Martin DB5 in silver Aston Martin DB7 GT in BRG Aston Martin DBS V12 in white Jaguar C-Type in BRG Pagani Zonda C12 S7.0 in deep blue and a gold Aston Martin Cygnet (kidding!!)
1. 250 GTO 2. 250 GTS California Spyder 3. 2011 Ason Martin DBS 4. BMW 3.0CS 5. 1969 Pontiac Firebird 6. 1955 300 SL Gullwing 7. Jaguar E Type 8. 1963 Buick Riviera 9. 1974 Alfa Romeo GTB Last but not least 10.Lamborghini Muria
Are you kidding me? How could anyone think the 246 GTS is prettier than the 246GT? The blocky B-C pillar area and the flat roof just ruin the pure flowing design of the 246 as it was originally penned. Not saying the GTS isn't more desirable, which according to price it clearly is; I'm talking pure aesthetics.
1. Ferrari f40 2. Ferrari 250 GTO 3. Ferrari 360 4. Ford GT 5. Aston Martin Vanquish 6. 993 Porsche 911 Turbo Can't think of some other cars off the top of my head but definitely some of the older classic cars are in there. Especially those made by Ferrari and Mercedes.
Can we take out the "at least 250 made" rule please? It totally kills my list. Top ten most beautiful post war cars (Alphabetical): 1 Alfa Romeo TZ2 2 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato 3 Ferrari 250 GTO (Ralph Lauren's) 4 Ferrari 250 SWB (Ralph Lauren's) 5 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Pontoon Fender (Ralph Lauren's) 6 Jaguar D-type 7 Jaguar E-type 8 Lamborghini Miura (p400, S, or SV) 9 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing 10 Porsche 550 Spyder Honorable Mention: Alfa Romeo Duetto Spyder Alfa Romeo GTV Aston Martin DBS BMW 507 Ferrari 330 GTS Jaguar CX75 concept Jaguar XK 120 Jaguark XKSS Lamborghini Countach Lamborghini Reventon Maserati Birdcage 75 concept Maserati MC12 Mercedes 230 SL Pininfarina Ferrari P4/5
Let's see... 10) Ferrari 288 GTO 9) Porsche 906 8) Porsche 917 7) Lamborghini Miura SV (without the "eyelash" headlights) 6) Lancia Stratos 5) Ford GT40 (the original, not the remake from 2005) 4) Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Spider 3) Ferrari 246 GT 2) Ferrari 330 P4 And as for the most beautiful car in existence, ever: 1) The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale 7 out of these 10 cars are Italian. What does that tell you?
Tells me you broke the OP's rules about no more than 2 Ferraris. Hard to argue with any of these, especially the Alfa, but my list would include, in no order: Ferrari 250 GT SWB: maybe the prettiest car ever designed Ferrari 308 GTS: In European trim, one of the all-time icons Jag E-Type S1 roadster: cliche, but it's still an incredible car; iconic Porsche 356 Speedster: definitive sports car/icon Porsche 550A Spyder: coolest car ever made, zero styling pretentions Merc 300SL roadster: less famous than the Gullwing but better proportioned Aston Martin DB4: elegant and clean cut Lamborghini Countach LP400: not a Lambo fan except these still get me weak-kneed - brilliant and audacious Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione: a modern car that actually looks classically gorgeous BMW Z8: which will probably get only one vote, but I've always loved these -- a rare case of the sequel being truly great
It's curious to see that both cars I think are the most gorgeous came out the same year and I wasn't even born ... 1-5 Lamborghini Miura 6-10 De Tomaso Mangusta the rest are trivial ...
I can't give you a list because tomorrow I'm sure it would change. But, any list that does not include the Bugatti Atlantic is in my opinion, incomplete. Ok.... it's pre-war (barely) but I think it needs an exemption. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lotus Esprit S1 Ferrari 308 Maserati Merak Dino 246 GT Miura Countach Porsche 904 365 Berlinetta Boxer Aston DB4 Zagato (too rare for this list?) Series III XJ6 (Bottom six places on list are subject to change at any time...)
I also missed the other prerequisite, that it had to have a significant production run. The Stradale's production run of 18 would hardly count, then I also have a soft spot for the Z8, ever since I saw it in the James Bond flick The World is Not Enough. Unfortunately, it got sawed in half during the course of the film...
