last saturday at 01.20 PM I saw a brand new unregistered red HONDA-ACURA NSX 2017 with a temporary test plate crossing the Ferrari main gate: probably there on request of the Ferrari R&D department to study the new NSX for future Ferrari Hybrid AWD models

    ciao

Manufacturers often test each other's cars. Usually they have a trading agreement.

When I went to college I had a professor who worked in GM's power plant division. He said they got every Ford and Chrysler car and had them tested and torn down.

I don't know if they do the same now but it only makes sense.

In a war the slogan "know your enemy" is as important as "an army marches on its stomach".

Before the introduction of the 360 Modena, Ferrari tested the first series NSX extensively. That NSX was a ground breaker in many ways but most importantly to Ferrari, it was the aluminium construction that was intriguing.

If I remember correctly there was a interview with the head of engineering of the Ford GT (not the new one, the last one) and they said they got a 360 modena and tore it down. He wasn't very complimentary. :)

Talking to my peeps at GM, they were impressed with the 458, which they also tore down.

I believe it was Ed Welburn who even mentioned it in a video with Jay Leno or Motoman when they introduced the C7....

Maybe karma will roll around and Ferrari will somehow get their hands on a new Ford GT. Wonder if any of the GTs will be going to a straw man?

Yugo's would disassemble themselves driving down the road.

Ford used the 360 for development of the 2005-2006 Ford GT. As John said, the auto manufacturers tear down competitive vehicles, but not before they have been put through 1000's of vehicle tests. This can ruin a person because you pick apart EVERYTHING on every vehicle you drive thereafter....

Not surprised to hear about this. I always thought since the C6 onwards they resemble the V12 2 seater Ferrari offerings.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the first few interior shots in that ad are of the Maranello Caffe across the street from the Enzo theatre in Maranello.
