    Up for sale is a starter motor for Ferrari 512TR, F512M. Ferrari part # 145489, Bosch part # 0001110083. This one has been completely disassembled, all components inspected and tested.

    Testing report as follows:
    * Commutator segment resistance: 0 ohm (spec <1.7 ohm)
    * Resistance between commutator and armature coil: infinite ohm (spec > 10 kohm)
    * Commutator circle runout: 0.01mm (spec-standard 0.02mm, max 0.04mm)
    * Commutator diameter: 32.19 mm (spec-standard 32.2mm, min 31.1mm)
    * Commutator undercut depth: 0.89mm (spec-standard 0.9mm, min 0.4mm)
    * Brush length: range 12.0-12.02mm between the 4 brushes (spec-standard 14mm, min 9mm)
    * Brush resistance: A-B infinite, A-C infinite, A-D 0 ohm, B-C 0 ohm, B-D infinite, C-D infinite (all w/in spec)
    * Full assembly testing protocol within normal limits (solenoid pull-in test, holding test, clutch pinion gear return, operation without load)

    New (if you can find one) will cost around $2,400. I'm selling this one for $625. I will pay for shipping in the continental US and take care of paypal fees. Thanks for looking

    The earlier TR's up to 92 had the black Bosch starters..
    I replaced a black one with a silver body in my 92..
    I think the silver ones were considered.." Hi Torque "
    My 94 came with a silver body...it may fit, however IMO..it does not belong in a 93,94 or M car.
    Always remember to disconnect battery when replacing as that lead is LIVE

    I bought mine from Lyle tanner new for $895.00

    Thank you for the clarification Michael. When researching this starter several vendors (TRutlands, Ferrparts) had this listed as appropriate for the 512TR and the F512M. After seeing your post I did some more digging and according to the Ricambi parts tables this starter (Ferrari part# 145489, Bosch 0001110083) appears to be valid for the 512TR up to engine number 34241. Starting with engine 34242 the silver bodied starter (Ferrari part# 150523) is employed (See item #35 from table 53: CURRENT GENERATOR -VALID FROM ENGINE NO ...- - Ricambi America, Inc.). Meanwhile, on the Bosch Automotive Traditions Website they list the Bosch 0001110083 as fitting the 512TR with the following date ranges: 01.1992-10.1994 ( Knowledge)

    Still working on getting this stuff cleared out. $400 shipped (CONUS) for an excellent condition 512 TR starter that normally retails for $2,400 seems like a good deal to me but what do I know, I'm a 328/355 owner. If you're interested, let me know what you think is a fair price for this item.
