    AUD$2200.00 or best offer.

Below is a transcript of the email I received from the person I bought the wheels from:

    Hi Walter

I have now looked through the history of my car regarding the wheels.
They were fitted by the very well respected Ferrari specialist Nick Cartwright on an invoice dated 6th April 2007.

The car was used in the Ferrari GB Hill Climb series at that time and Cartwrights looked after the car for about five years. The standard 14 inch wheels were taken off and the 16 inch fitted for racing. There are still felt tip markings on the inside of the rims saying which corner of the car they belong to.

On the invoice they are described as Speedline wheels. If you Google Speedline you will find that they supply racing wheels for Ferrari amongst others. This is consistent with the fact that Nick Cartwright raced a 308 for many years in the Ferrari Challenge series, and in fact his son Ben is currently high up in the rankings in this years challenge series in a 328.

There is no way that Cartwrights would fit a poor quality wheel. The fact that the wheels raced for five years in the hill climb, then were used for three years on the road , and still look like new, bears testament to the quality of the wheels.

I have removed them in order to return to the standard 14 inch wheels.

I am a very fussy sort of person and I would honestly say that they are perfect.

I currently own a 430 Scuderia, 308GTB, 246GT and 246GTS amongst my other cars, and have owned Ferraris for over 30 years. I am a member of the FOC, GB, and enter concourse events with some of my cars.

I hope this helps to settle your mind !

I have no idea of the wheels were optional here in oz, I bought them from a guy in the UK. Based on your 1979 price guide, these wheels are cheap.

Speedline is the third documented supplier of 16" 308 wheels.

    They are the rarest.

Cromodora and Campagnolo are the other two.

$2200 would be a very good value, in my mind.

16" QV wheels are creeping towards $4K USD these days, one the rare day you find them in the market.
    Those look very nice...

They are all the same width??

The more common QV wheels are 7.5" front and 8.5" rear, so two different molds.

My Speedlines are 7.5 and 8.5, what's the year on the mold in the back side? It should say SP 78 or some other year.

The 16" set on my Euro GTS were 7" F and 8" R. I have never heard of 7.5" and 8.5" wheels on a 308.

In the nineties there were new 16 in wheels allegedly from original molds from TecnoMagnesio in Italy

If the fronts and rears are the same face but different widths, they are the repros. I cant tell, but on the 2nd picture is there a lip or a receess ring?

Hi all, if anyone in Sydney wants to inspect these wheels, they are at Berlina Body Works in Leichhardt but call first and ask for Enzo on 0295602954.

To add to the fun, 2200 is in AUD (OT). That would make around 1670 USD.
Now, if they are not sold fast I will be puzzled...

That makes them 4 x front wheels. You'll need a close up of the stampings on the inside of the wheels. They look like Superformance replicas, but the inside stampings will confirm their authenticity if they're real ones.

I'd say it bears more testament to the quality of the driver :)

Those are the replicas sold by Superformance for 795 quid (but you can have 8" rears for that price)
