This van was purchased new by Jacques Swaters' Garage Francorchamps SA in September 1978, at that time still in the Rue Goffart, Brussels and surely was used for the company's move to the Rue Colonel Bourg in 1984. The FIAT provided its loyal on-the-road service until some time in 1988 and for the next decade was used as a storage facility in the workshop of the Ferrari Antwerpen dealership that opened in 1989. The sign-written livery features the famous 'Cavallino Rampante' and the logos of Ferrari models of the late 1970s: 308GTB and 308GTS, 512BB, 400 automatic and Mondial. The van is in very original condition with some rust to the lower body, while the engine is running but requires further servicing before it will be roadworthy again. It comes with the original service booklet and Belgian registration document in the name of Garage Francorchamps, a Belgian Certificat de Conformité and its last Certificat de Contrôle Technique dated 12/10/1987. I remember a similar van which stood abandonned at the back of the Antwerp Dealership. Unfortunately phones were brick-sized and not able to take pictures. Many times I tried to convice myself to enter the dealership to enquire for the van. I just didn't have the guts... I was a student and working after school hours at GuyMoerenhout Abarth shop (google it). I would juiced it up pretty hard. It had the same warpaint, maybe it is this car? I think the Antwerp dealer was a part from the Brussels dealership. Just curious what it would fetch. A full resto would kill wallet and pedigree/patina, but in this condition it isn't worth a lot. Still regret .....
you mean this one? And, for me, the cars MUST stay in this condition! Only this is original... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The cars are a small pice of history. It's always the same, bring another one... Not possible and thats the thing. For me cars, Vans like this should be in mechanic "drivable" condition, but the paint an the stickers must stay original. Most on the car is handpainted (!), unique.
The antwerp dealership was located in Wilrijk those days. It was an old building cramped between houses. The back was visible from the main road. It could be the same..... Cars are only fun if they drive ( for me at least ). Garagequeens, it's like saving your girlfr.... Yeah you know the drill. But I'm aware the car can only 1 time be original. Decisions decisions decisions
If I can recollect, it's the youngest van (with raised roof) which stoof behind the Antwerp shop. But I can be wrong... Man, it's an old wound... can't have them all... for the futur buyer: make it run like new; don't touch the outside (except for structural rust) and make it a barrista van. Go sell you doppio espressos at car meets.
