Looking for an unmodified, FCA platinum-level car. Needs to be US-spec and California legal. Thanks!
Flexible on color, although I've sworn off pure black. I heard they made some red ones, so maybe one of those. I like the prugna '85 in NY. It needs a few things done, which at the asking price it probably shouldn't. But I've contacted the dealer about that one, so it's a definite maybe.
Dang thats good news....never have I been so excited about someone else starting a search. LOL at the too powerful 328....you had a TT after all.
I assume the reasoning is similar for why you're not choosing a B: too much grip, can't endure the maddening silence that the squeakiness of a flimsy targa top saves you from hearing, can't afford the inevitable chiro bills because of the massive chassis stiffness, don't want the mundane experience of driving around bumpy corners and not having to worry about the door flying open, etc.
You can get the bridle adjusted without removing the engine on 308/328s. Just looking for a Very Good car. If I were ordering it new, I probably would have gone for blu sera or nero metallico. But I'm not interested in waiting six years for a car to come available. If a nice GTB turned up I'd probably buy it. The GTS is the iconic Ferrari for me, though, and I always had the roof panel off when I had my 328. But, the Porsche is a convertible, so could probably do either GTS or GTB. (And if I need quiet, I have a library.)
Then, given your overwhelming fear of Ferrari maintenance, I'm surprised you haven't gravitated toward buying one. They're incredible cars and to many cognoscenti, considered Ferrari's best V-8 car ever.
I guess that's why I think it's so great, then. Fwiw, even though the two cars are identical in so many ways, I found the 308 seats to be much more comfortable than the 328 seats. Consequently, you might want to consider a 308. FYI, the seats feel even smaller in an F40 (although I think I may have the smaller of the two seat options in mine) but slightly bigger in a 348 and 355.
Yes, you do have be on the slender side. But if you are comfortable in it the driving experience is pretty much all you need in a sports car. I always found the 328 cockpit a perfect fit.
Thanks! It's coming up on 10 years since I bought the 328, so need a 10th anniversary gift for myself.
Jon, Good luck in your search. I'll be excited to watch it play out and see what you decide on. I vote red gtb. Happy anniversary. Robb
I believe you might. Thanks Robb. I vote first seriously nice QV that crosses my path, but we shall see. Have fun in LA at the shindig for the 60th.
