BTW the car has had a documented complete engine out service on 8/2012 with less than 500 miles since and includes the luggage set
Great car and the engine compartment looks very clean, in contrast to most other cars which I have seen. Just for my curiosity, what the heck is this seatbelt design and how does it work? Presumably a US-specific design, I have never seen something like that ...
The belts run along a track above the door frame. Ferrari could do automatic seat belts or airbags at the time to meet US safety regulations, they chose the former. The driver and passenger still had to put on the lap belt manually. It was far from the most elegant of engineering, but it allowed the thin spoke steering wheel to remain and avoided re-engineering of the dashboard.
Indeed , in particular in view of the manual lap belt (I was wondering where that is). Thanks for the perfect explanation for us Europeans!
We called them the motorized mouse option over here. A passive restraint system in lieu of airbags. They weren't around for very long. The Italians were late on this stuff.
Close to your estimate, but it looks like they are going for $130k: Used 1989 FERRARI TESTAROSSA For Sale | Plainview, NYC, NY | VIN: ZFFSG17A6K0080689
