Why people who are in the Ferrari market, think twice about buying a Mondial for their bargain basement prices are beyond me. I am biased in that, I own one, but this is a tremendous value for the money! (No affiliation with seller)

It is only a matter of time until everyone says, "remember when Mondials were selling for $30k; damn I should have bought one!"

    Lovely!!!
I don't understand why someone without a Ferrari doesn't grab it, or why someone with a Ferrari doesn't grab it to use as a school run minivan.

Good luck with the sale of a beautiful and horribly underrated car.

Wow looks marvelous, good service history and a steal for a first time Ferrari owner.
Wish I had room for another one in the garage.

    Hi Tom,

Where did you see the "service history"?

Even if this car hasn't had a major service in the last few years (3 or 4), it appears to be a very choice grab !!!

    Cheers,

    Hank

A low mileage Motronic 2.7 Mondial T for under $35K? Some one jump on this. This is not your typical Mondial rag top. 348 driveline, 4 passengers and a drop top. Wow.

We have been servicing this car for about 20 years, timely service, timing belts every three years, annuals, the only possible negative is that the front tires are getting close to the wear bars. No accidents, books, jack, some tools, 3 owners from new. The soft top was raised today, first time in 10 years, looks like new!

The Mondi is not my favorite but this is a really nice example that looks like it was cared for really meticulously. GLWS.

    Gary,

    Nice car.

Were these affected by the factory bulletin concerning the oil pump tensioner / pad as the 348 was? If so, was this replaced with the updated piece?

    Godspeed!

Oops .... Now I am assuming things.
Bobileff says serviced by them for 20 years, and they have their phone # right there ....
Thinking they are begging you to call them and ask about, or even send you copies of the service records.
Get a fellow F chatter close to it to give it a look, and review the records for you.
I don't know Bobileff, and that car looks pretty damn clean in the pictures.
Of course I would start with .... Show me the Carfax.

Also see post #13, the only question left is ....
Date of the last major service ;)
A copy of that service if he is willing to send it to you, and thinking SD is within driving distance of Burbank. I am drooling over it and am way up in FRICKIN wet and cold Portland.

Only thing that could make that car better was if it had the Valeo trans!

OMG you are kidding, right? Not a common option but an experiment that had mixed reviews. Me, I'm not a fan.

Have you driven one vvassallo? Or are you just one to read the tabloids and formulate an opinion based on someone else's assertion?

No Alex, I actually spoke at length with an owner at our club meeting. Was an duplicate of this car except for Valeo. Interesting concept but not quite right. Touch the shift knob and the clutch disengages. One needs to always keep that in mind. No hanging on to the ball through your shift changes. Also has a slight delay. Me, I'd rather push the pedal myself and let my right hand ride the ball. ;)

I'm considering taking the 3 hour drive tomorrow morning to look at this one. There is only one small thing holding me back. There seems to be a strange errroneous error on the carfax. In the odometer check portion of the carfax report it states "exceeds mechanical limits" implying that the car has passed 1 million miles in 1996. (It's a 6 digit odometer) Not only that, that entry was made by the TEXAS DMV located in New Haven Connecticut.

Has anyone seen this before? Any opinions? Seller is a Ferrari/Lamborghini specialist and seems top notch. He suggested the car is in the condition of an 18000 mile car.

vvassallo - Not kidding. I have one. Drives amazing and never had a problem so far, knock on wood. I think the mixed reviews you are referring to are the ones where people didn't like the idea that it was a stick shift without a clutch. This is what became the F1 transmission. If anything as time goes by the value of the 18 Valeos in the US will go up substantially. The argument of not having a true third pedal kind of goes out the window when you realize Ferrari hasn't made a true stick shift in years. As time goes by less and less people will even know how to drive a stick. The idea of having a stick without knowing how to use a clutch will actually be a bonus. May take a while but mark my words.

In the meantime drive one if you ever have the opportunity and see what you actually think.

I will see if the only guy I know who has one in FCA locally will let me drive it. He was pretty proud of it. I remember VW and Porsche had similar transmissions/electric clutches but moved away from the design, as did Ferrari.

Regardless of my sentiments of the driving experience of a Valeo equipped car, I have to agree that at some point these are going to be collectible niche vehicles. In fact you will likely see separate listings for Mondials by Valeo and "t" designators as well as convertible and coupe, like now. I still think this listing is a smoking deal for someone.
