    1988.5 Ferrari 328.5 GTS s/n 76777

We are pleased to offer my mother’s 1988.5 USA model 328 GTS s/n 76777 with 33k miles, a fully-serviced, well-documented, late-production 328 GTS, from new in Rare White with tan leather. S/n 76777 was sold new 09/12/1988 and comes with ownership and service paperwork from new. All major mechanical components have been serviced through its life and so the engine, transmission, brakes and suspension all work as new. 328 GTS s/n 76777 is a high-level collector Ferrari, meant for the collector looking for a rare no story car to add to their stable. The syncros work smoothly, the clutch is light to use.

The body is straight and dent free, the original Ferrari white paint is very nice and the tan leather is in good condition other than the usual wear to the driver's seat bolster. The door panels, throw carpets and dash are also all in excellent condition. A very clean car topside and on the underside and chassis. The body, paint and panel fit are all in excellent condition. The trim, gaskets, window glass and lenses are also in excellent condition. The bumper/spoilers are in excellent condition other than a few rock chips. It is fitted from new with the Factory optional 16 inch Convex wheels used on the ABS 328s mounted with a brand new set of Yokohama S Drive 205/55 R 16 front and 225/50 R 16 rear tires with 200 miles on them.

The car makes excellent power with no smoke, and has excellent oil pressure. The suspension is firm yet compliant, and the brakes stop the car effectively and evenly. Second gear synchro is excellent, both when warm and cold. All the switches and gauges are fully operational, Comes with books, all in their original leather pouch and the jack kit with the spare bulbs, belts and trouble light. Comes with a clean 3 owner Carfax,.

328 GTS s/n 76777 is in very excellent condition for a 26 year old Ferrari and has just had the full major service with timing belts; service was done by Chuck Capella, The Sports Car Center, Royal Oak, MI. The cam belts and seals were replaced, the valves were adjusted, new water pump, the tensioner bearings were replaced and all fluids and filters were replaced at a cost of $5,185.00 less than 100 miles ago. This 1988.5 Ferrari 328 GTS s/n 76777 is a great looking, great running, and a fast appreciating Ferrari and one of the last of the 1988.5.. 328s, priced right at $98,000.

Please call Kevin at 248.763.9400 or email [email protected] for more information.

    Thank You!!

Chassis 76777 should have ABS and the convex wheels as shown.

If it's truly an 88.5, which it should be as I had 77068 which was an 88.5 GTB, then it should have everything that 89's do but no actual ABS. Only the 89's in the US got ABS brakes. Although I guess nothing would surprise me with Ferrari.

I could be wrong, of course, but I have ABS as an option on initial production run of '88.5 cars (mid-'88 for Euro cars and late '88 for U.S.), and then standard equipment from chassis 76626 on. If you had 77068 without ABS, then I'm wrong and ABS must not have been standardized in all markets until later.

My understanding is that you are correct - it was listed as an option - but somehow, none of the US cars got it until 1989. So I have heard that some Euro 88.5 cars have ABS but no US cars. Just a small thing but worth noting for someone who prizes originality and wonders where the ABS is.

This is correct. I own 76713 and it has all the post-76626 changes but no ABS. Built in March, 1988.

If it has the convex wheels rather than the concave, then it's an ABS car.

Forza magazine dated Feb 20, 2014 states starting with #76626 there was a suspension upgrade and in 88 (88.5) the ABS was an option but was NOT available in the USA. It also states ABS was standard equipment in 89.
Believe it may be issue #133, dated May 2014 (?) which has a 328 buyers guide for the 328 in that issue.
I need to figure out how to cut and paste this stuff on an iPad.

The easiest way to tell if a car has got ABS, or not, is to simply open the front hood and look at the brake fluid reservoir, which is situated in front of the windscreen, in the shroud around the spare wheel.
If the (plastic) brake fluid reservoir is rather large and situated right in the middle of said shroud, the car has got ABS; if the brake fluid reservoir is rather small and offset towards the passenger side, the car has no ABS.

I have an 88.5 no ABS with the Convex wheels... the wheels are based on the Suspension upgrade NOT ABS

    GLWS!

That really is the definitive way to tell (and "ANTI-LOCK" light on dash). If the car has ABS, then it is an ABS car, not wheels, serial number, country, etc. Too many exceptions to the rules.

That is a very nice looking white 328! Best of luck with your brother's sale.

It's a convex wheel 88.5 and does not have ABS - best of both worlds in most people's opinion. Upgraded suspension without the possible problems of the ABS in the future. Great car.
