This car is priced pretty well if you compare it to others currently listed. If somebody likes this spec I would grab it. Not too many, if any, spec'd like this. If you want a red with NART stripe, that's a different story. There are several to choose from.

In regards to previous posts and question, no I paid way over MSRP pretty close to what I am asking to get it. The market has been 50-80 over mrsp since they came out. Car is still available, I have had 4 buyers claim to "want it" and 4 deals fell thru. I think the first link no longer works here is the current link...
also recently spent $2000 on a high end detail so the paint is now like glass, removed the factory imperfections.

To answer your original question, yes, these cars are hard to get a hold of. Basic law of supply and demand. That is why Speciales sell at a premium and 458s sell at a discount to MSRP.

Same for a 991 RS. They sell at a premium while 991 Turbos sell at a discount. If the production numbers were reversed the opposite would be true.

To really compare the previous RS pricing to Stradales and Scuderias you need to look at production numbers. They made less Stradales than Scuderias, which makes sense when you look at their current market values. If you want to look at some comparable production numbers/pricing you can compare the 4.0 to the 599 GTO.

That is why I bought a Speciale and have a RS arriving in January. I'm covering both bases.

The 991 RS premiums seem to be around $100k ($150k for the Barneys). As more cars are delivered I see these premiums coming down. Once production is completed premiums should stabilize and possibly increase. The only caveat is the economy. If we have a repeat of 2008 they may end up below MSRP.

So unless you were able to get a Speciale or 991 RS from a dealer at MSRP, be prepared to pay a premium. If you want to protect yourself from depreciation, buy the most limited production car you can afford.

The modern limited edition Ferrari market looks much more sane than the limited edition Porsche market these days. How times have changed.

We really must get away from discussing the general market. Market discussion is not permitted in classified adverts because too many threads were completely derailed away from discussing the car that was actually for sale. Please limit any further discussion to this specific 458 Speciale advertised for sale.

    Many thanks,
    Andrew.
