I've decided to try something a bit novel to pass on my lovely 2004 Challenge Stradale to it's next owner. I am living overseas and reluctantly cannot justify keeping her knowing she will be in storage for at least the next 5-7 years. I am going to put her up for auction starting this week. Each week I will reduce the price $1000. I will do this for an indeterminate amount of time (maybe 1 year, maybe 3 months). The price is firm each week, so please, no haggling. I will be posting details of the car in subsequent posts. I reserve the right to suspend the auction at any time, and reject any and all offers. I will honor any offer that accompanies receipt of an agreed deposit based on that weeks price. Hope this proves interesting for all concerned. Starting price: $219K.

    A few details:

2004 Challenge Stradale finished in Rosso Scuderia. Three previous owners, plus two dealers. Clean CarFax. The car has 14240 miles. Increasing by approximately 2-5 miles per month for ongoing maintenance. The car has recently been overhauled and fully serviced with service receipts totaling almost $45000, done by Ferrari of New England. This includes such pricey items as an F1 actuator (cost $13000 <yes...thousand>), brakes, seals and numerous other items too many to list here.

    Exterior
This CS is finished in the much desired Rosso Scuderia colour and is in very good cosmetic condition. The car is a 9.5 out of 10 cosmetically. Two issues. The stripe is not factory. It was painted on the car (much as the new 458 Speciale stripes now are). There is NO ridge under the clear coat. The paint was done by a Ferrari authorised paint shop and is immaculate. To see it is to appreciate that this is how the factory probably should have applied the stripe in the first place (again, much as they are now doing on the newer cars). If you want a 'real' factory stripe, then this is not the car for you. The other issue is that there is a slight blemish, on the rear hatch where the paint was repaired. Either side of the stripe. I have included a photo of the area. It is almost impossible to see without some serious light contrast in a paint finishing detail room. Again, if you want a 'perfect' car cosmetically, this is not the car. If you want a RS CS, that looks amazing and 'almost' perfect, then this is the car. Especially as it is mechanically like new. The front bumper is mint in condition as is the bonnet and wings, free from any chips or scuffs. The entire front of the car is covered by 3M, right up to the windshield and doors. The rear bumper is also covered in 3M, as are the leading edges of the lower air intakes. The glass is in excellent condition, with one or two extremely tiny stone marks on the windshield. The two carbon fibre mirrors are in perfect, unblemished condition. The alloy wheels are immaculate and as new. Tires are about 80% tread.

    Interior
The CS interior is in very good condition. The alcantara is clean, no tears. The entire dash (lower and upper halfs) was replaced due to fading, and looks as new (replaced with OEM supplied covering). The carbon fibre is in almost perfect condition, with a tiny chip on the clear coat on the driver door (again, would have to be pointed out to even see it). No sticky switch problems. Every switch, button and lever works perfectly. All keys, books, tools, fobs, covers and original window sticker included. Factory provided fire extinguisher is immaculate. Aftermarket Alpine radio/disc unit installed, original factory unit provided.

    Mechanical
As mentioned, the car underwent a full and thorough mechanical overhaul prior to my purchasing the car in January of this year. There are almost $45K of receipts to attest to the thorough and meticulous work done. The belts have less than 1000 miles since being redone. The clutch is at approximately 87%, and the discs are about 95%. A new factory sport exhaust is installed (very shiny!) and the engine compartment is clean enough to eat from!. One of the bigger items, and an area of concern for all owners is the F1 pump (cost about $13K). This has been replaced, again with about a 1000 miles since being done.

If you want a CS, one that you can enjoy instead of putting in your living room, this is the car. It is beautiful, almost perfect and has been reconditioned to 'as new' shape. I would rather not sell, but my circumstances have changed, and for the sake of this car being appreciated and used as she should be, I am reluctantly selling her. I am starting at what is an already attractive and fair price. Most of these cars (the RS) ones are starting $20-$40K higher than this. Each week it will slightly slightly bit better value! Whomever purchases her will surely have a wonderful CS for a great price. Happy watching and bidding!

...apologies for some of the lower quality pics. I only do iPhone :). Car is sitting on clean, open title. Currently not registered, but started, warmed to operating temps and driven 2 miles each week to keep all fluids, seals and mechanical's lubricated and operating. Car is 10/10 mechanically, 9.5 cosmetically. More details to follow.

Thank you. Not in a hurry to sell, but I thought it would be interesting to see where the bottom line is on the car. Wish I could enjoy it fully, but living 7000 miles away. Tucked up safely under it's cover in the meantime.

Very cool way to sell the car. Certainly something I haven't seen before. Great looking car that will make its next owner very happy I'm sure. Depending how much time passes, perhaps that'll be me lol.

Beautiful. You can't go wrong with a RS cs with red-black alcantara. Perfect colors. Good luck with the sale! If you are interested, I can make a post on the challenge-stradale.com registry/website and link to this ferrarichat advert.

    Thanks I see it now.

This sounds like a punishment to me.

I have actually sold cars this way before. I would list a price and say I would reduce it by $100-500 per week until sold, of course this was vehicles worth a LOT less than this. I would notice that it would just sit as the price would go down and finally lots of interest.
I was usually at a point where I just wanted the thing gone. Not the case here ;)

Yes, I sit and just stare at photos of her.. I am involved in the worlds most extended 'detail'. There is not a smoother, shinier Stradale on the planet (....well, other than a local friend who is legend with his details!!). The next owner will be a lucky person. I will really miss this car. There is nothing prettier on the road, truly one of Ferraris most stunning designs, and the best sounding V8 ever. I will hopefully own another one day.

    Beautiful car.

Now, tell us about that yellow 308!!!

A good CS is one of the few cars I would consider selling my 308 for, but I am not in league to buy a CS and probably never will be.

The 308 is staying. Easier and cheaper to get up and running after extended storage. Wish I could keep both though....as I said, just like to sit and look at the CS. Other than the 308, I personally don't think Ferrari has produced a prettier car than the CS. I'm lucky to own/have owned both. Hopefully one day i'll have another CS when i'm living back on that side of the world.
