1999 Ferrari 456M GT (6 Speed) 23,xxx miles. I am selling this car because: I have many cars, and several Ferraris. I’ve been driving this one a lot lately since my 550 has been in the shop. I bought the 550 to replace this car; my kids are now too large to ride in the back seat. If you are familiar with the 456 model, and are actively searching for one, you know the difference between a 456 and a 456M. If you’ve been looking for a manual, you understand how infrequently they come to market. If you are looking for a Modificato AND a 6 speed, there are unfortunately not a lot of them out there for sale. The Inspection Report (done by a well-respected independent Ferrari mechanic) from when I bought the car in July of 2012 (I can email it to interested parties) shows: - Wear on entry point of driver seat - Dash nice and free of shrinkage - No stickies - Aftermarket Eclipse Radio - Tools in truck + Jack + Tire Inflator - Space Saver unused in plastic Zipper cover - Body Straight, Gaps Good, small dent at rocker (repaired) - Did not see any rust - Mirror – correct and original - Ash tray and lighter unused The car is Argento Nurburgring with Black leather; it was born with Red leather, but the original owner had the entire interior changed to black because his wife hated the red. The color change apparently cost over $20K (at the dealer). Work Done Prior to my buying the Car (July 2012) The leakdown at July 2012 was 2-9% in all cylinders. The hoses at the center of the plenum chamber were replaced. Trunk button was replaced. Oil and Filter change. Full books. No paperwork or history prior to my purchase. Known issues: - The “suspension” warning light comes on intermittently (either it does, or it doesn’t once the car starts up). This has been attributed to the sensor and does not affect the performance of the car. If I were keeping the car, I would replace the sensors at whatever point the shocks need replacing. - “Stickies” – the buttons themselves are fine, but the rubberized/plastic block they are mounted in get sticky. Repairs under my ownership (July 2012 – Present) - Window mechanism (now perfect, this is an expensive and difficult repair, and some shops won’t do it because it’s hard to bill for the amount labor it takes); you may have read about the window gap issue – on this car, that issue has been resolved. - Headlights & Hood Struts (repaired headlight pop up, replaced struts) April, 2015 - New Battery - I have had all fluids changed and all routine maintenance performed annually by John Bedford of La Scuderia Speedshop (Albuquerque). This is a great driving Ferrari. Like most of the marque, it has things about it that are frustrating; especially given the original sticker price was almost $300,000. However, nothing beats the torque and the feeling of working through the manual gearbox with the beautiful gated shifter (once it’s warm, of course). I am asking $71,000. The car is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. PPI encouraged and happily arranged. Please PM if you are interested. Quoting a PPI from 3 years ago is nice to familiarize someone with the car, but a new one ought to be had just to be comfy. 456M six speeds are actually 100k cars right now and this could be a Great deal for someone Good Luck with the sale
Thanks for these comments. It does seem like the market has moved quickly. I have posted a new price (edited the ad) but will honor the original price to anyone who PM'd before the price change. I made an error (underestimating the market) and don't know of a better way to fix it than this. I will try to respond to inquiries over the weekend. Edit: I guess I can't edit my original post after a certain length of time? The new price is $85,000. In response to MoeD - I would always advocate getting a PPI (as I mentioned in my ad) and also wouldn't want anyone to buy my mine without getting one either - it's good for both parties to a base of knowledge from which to strike a deal.
Wow, if the dash was originally black then that red interior would be FANTASTIC.......shame it was changed out (only if the dash and console was black though). Otherwise beautiful car. Good luck with the sale.
Agree! If only for Vicarious thrills! I would love to see a 3 pedal M reach 6 figures. I believe in the years to come they will continue to appreciate well beyond that.
Agreed and no disrespect meant Also agree with Henry and & Lionworks- You should be asking 100K or more The last two 456M manuals I know of sold for around 100K- Non M cars are already asking in the 80's & 90's for manual versions You shouldn't have to apologize for misreading the market, it has moved quickly recently, and if no one ran to make a deal & buy it, you have every right to change your ask price and get what your car is worth- What you settle for in the end is up to you It's hard to believe the market has jumped so quick, but I think it's a long time coming as everything else even remotely relative around these cars has gone up, so it had to happen sooner or later
You know the answer to that! "I would but I already have one!" OP, the car is beautiful and IMHO priced about right. Buyer will have a very nice car!
Henry - I will be sending you my Routing and Acct #'s shortly so that you can wire me $134 for the car. I will include shipping down to ATL for you. But then again; I imagine, I will sell this car, purchase 4-5 properties, return to FCar ownership and you will still be looking for that perfect 599... Hahaahah: Once I do sell this thing, I will make sure to purchase a plane ticket and come see you for a day or two. We must hangout & smoke some cigars together. I should try and plan it on a Cars&Coffee weekend in Dunwoody!!!
