Anyone here ordered an F12 yet? I don't think they are officially for sale in the US yet. I'm curious what the first deliveries are scheduled.
i saw a black one today on the street in germany, official first deliverys in germany commence in july 2012
Received word today that the Ferrari dealer in Sint Martens Latem (Belgium) has a matte silver F12 berlinetta on the showroom floor. Picture courtecy of Philip C@rle: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, that looks awesome on the showroom floor! Seems to have a different stance than all the auto show pics.
Thats a great looking car. I love everything except the front grill. Seems plastic looking. Maybe it looks better in person.
It is aggressive, yet graceful, but Ferrari all the way. A stunning car. No acquired taste required here.
Looks great in that showroom picture, actually better to my eye than in the motor show pictures. I do wonder about the small front spoiler though and things like speed bumps...
...agreed...and I think this car has made the 599 look bloated and excessive. This is the first Ferrari since the 288 that i've lusted over. I will say however that the 'F1' style reverse light is plain silly.
Although I love the car on first sight I am a little concerned about the Lambo looking air scoops ( seem a little big ) for the brakes. These are probably unnecessary for all but the very most aggressive user or the track. But if this car is really 2 seconds faster than a 458 at Fiorano then then this is one really awesome car and Ferrari must have spent some time on their design. Its just that at 400k you kinda want to feel like its perfect, and maybe it is. An age old problem is that by the time you work you way up the allotment list and finally get your "dream" you learn about the new and improved model that is being tested.i'm glad I didn't pay way up for a GTO. Design wise some of the older models look as good or better than the new ones, it's just that automotive technology is improving at warp speed in this computer age and this makes a lot of difference in performance and handling. Then there is the competition which is not exactly in the dark ages. I'm reminded of the commercial a few years back where the guy in a convertible is driving home with a large computer box in the rear seat with X-5 computer( or something similar) written on the side as he stops at a light and looks up at the billboard advertising the new X-6 model.
Or just timeless. Personally, I'd take the 599 HGTE/GTO over a F12 Berlinetta. I just like the lines better.
Agreed. I don't feel the F12 makes the 599 look outdated at all. The new one is a stunning car, but I still think the 599 has better proportions, is way more elegant and a timeless design.
I haven't ordered one YET, since I only save $2 every time I assemble lunch from the McDonalds Dollar Menu and that means have about 198,000 more lunches to go. But I sure will keep at it, because somehow the F12berlinetta (which Top Gear magazine says is the way Ferrari told them to write it, but TG thought it looked like a typo so they disregarded the factory directive) grabs me like nothing else before. Don't know quite what it is about the F12--can't be something as simple as horsepower, since a ZR1 can easily be tuned to exceed it--maybe it's that I really wanted to like the 599 and have seen the Ultimate Factories episode fifty times but still couldn't warm to it, and now the F12 is what the 599 should have been all along. The configurator so far only lets you pick the exterior color, wheels, and calipers (mine is Nero, standard, Giallo) at least on the non-owners side of the site. Can't wait for the interior configurator to arrive so I'll have yet another wonderful way to waste time.
I disagree. What's amazing about the Ferrari brand is that new models seem to pay tribute to those that have come before, without making them "obsolete". The F430 didn't make the 360 seem "old", as it was different enough to be an entirely new model. Same with the relationship between the F430 and the 458 Italia ... both the 360 and F430 stand alone and, to me at least, appear more "classic" than "old". Ferrari simply does an outstanding job with this. The 599 is just a different car and still looks (and performs) amazing. The F12 stands on it's own and represents something of a new direction. Hell, Ferrari even managed to "replace" the 612 with something entirely different. Personally, I can't wait to see what they do with the next generation California.
