The FF has arrived! Does it seem odd that the hood/bonnet appears unscathed with all that front end and left front damage?
ouch indeed .....curious all that tubular structure under the front fenders, and not unit chassis type
It looks like the bonnet is intact because it was mo re of a right front fender impact, which crumpled. There's a lot of good sh*t left on that car. I wonder what it'll go for, probably quite a bit.
Damn the airbags didn't deploy? That'll show up for sale in a year or two as "car had light front end damage, air bags didn't deploy, all repairs completed by excellent body shop and it's good as new!"
That's part of my motivation for posting these PSAs with VIN and all of the pics. Hopefully the threads will come up when/if potential buyers do some Googling.
I think that it may have been this one.... http://jalopnik.com/5930230/allegedly-drunk-driver-crashes-302000-ferrari-ff-on-way-to-car-show
Thanks. Looks like it, what a damn fool. Good to hear no one was hurt. Image Unavailable, Please Login
copart says 175k to repair - sounds a bit heavy?? - even if the frame needs jigging? and wheres the lights, other wing and spoiler gone? - already starting to part out Id guess
Let's do some math. If it is $175K of damage and the car is worth around $300K if it was never in an accident. Given extensive damage let's say you wouldn't want to be in the car for more than 75% of that or $225K. You wouldn't pay more than $50K so it is a parts car.
Relisted and looks like some repairs made/attempted, http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e1s2&lotId=29682222 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks repairable to me, maybe 50k in damages??? A few years ago, I had a similar accident in my 750 BMW, slid on icy roads and broke the rear wheel on the curb. $12k in damages but all repaired by Geico. What am I missing here ???
With these Copart cars as well as other flood cars.... does anyone know if you can get insurance with a salvage title? It's one thing to get a deal and spend a few bucks on fixing these back to "close to new" but my understanding is that you can only get insured for liability, but nothing else. Basically the insurance companies will not insure damage to any car with a salvage title. I'd hate to put $180k into a car like this, just to save $100k and be out everthing if I ever got in a wreck. Assuming you don't try to wash the title through some of those various states that allow it.
I know three guys in the car repair business that all know how to get a clean title when they really need one. After seeing how it all can work (or not work) clean titles really don't mean squat. It really helps to know who owned it and figure out from there what the real history is. Buying from a dealer that you know while checking the history yourself may cost more but it is well worth it. You only get what you pay for. Driving a junk FF that has been under water will only be cool until it falls apart then all the money in the world won't make you feel better. Rick
https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/VehicleDetails.aspx?auctionID=13329289&itemID=14325191 Note the odometer showed 520 miles at the time of the accident and now this ad states 149. That said, I see what looks to be a gas can icon next to the 149; perhaps that is the range until out of gas and not the odometer reading?
