i know this has tangentially been covered in the past but i cldnt find the thread. Has anyone changed their FF radio for an aftermarket one? If you have, what info read-outs did you lose in the instrument cluster? It seems like you would lose maybe trip info, def. the song names, etc. But what else would you lose, or have you lost if you have done it?

Matt at AI in tuckahoe has figured out how to use a pioneer 8200 and retain steering wheel functionality.

Can that use Waze from the phone and display it on the 8200 screen?

Alpine Apple car play unit should integrate without problem. Probably have limited steering wheel controls but should work. You can then use a large list of apps and google maps, not sure about Waze

Can you give some more info?
How did you decide on pioneer?
Did you have to get new amp?
Could they use the existing Bluetooth mic?
    Is that a custom surround?

I have a 2012 FF on the way and am interested in head unit swap
    Thanks!

ok, let me know if you get more info.

BTW, there is a new alpine supposedly coming out in a few weeks. It is first aftermarket radio with wireless CarPlay. No need to plug in phone(if you are an apple guy). Also has an adaptor for most wheel controls including Chrysler

Would you have an idea of the overall budget?

Is the reverse camera going to show on the center screen?

    Thanks

I am getting a 2.DIN centre radio. Ferrari had informed me that it will play the reverse camera on it rather than the ridiculous front screen on speeding where it currently is

Just an update, Ferrari asking for $5000 for the 2 DIN Radio replacement. It's a Clariion unit.
Ferrari guaranteeing that reverse camera will o e in the centre unit. But 5K and even arolay not guaranteed looks steep to me.

Has anyone out there successfully changed the head unit yet? Aside from the photo above, I've only found threads discussing amp/speaker upgrades. I want a newer aftermarket head unit with apple CarPlay and would rather not tear up the cabin to wire a completely new system. I've been told by a local installer that a new head unit cannot be used with existing amp/speakers. I understand that the best sound would be to replace everything, but I'm most interested in functionality and can deal with the sub-par sound of stock system. I'll definitely contact Matt at AI as suggested above, but anyone else done this?

Ferrari did offer an official upgrade unit which I’m fairly sure was a Clarion unit. I see no reason why you can’t get an audio installer to do the same or similar. The only different may be that Ferrari may have a software patch that for example integrates full steering wheel control.

I had a local company called Benchmark Motoring (Hugo) do amps, speakers and subwoofer upgrade to my 2014 FF. Didn't touch the head unit. Sounds amazing.

I use a cord to play Spotify off my iPhone 7.

Attached are the items and numbers. About $10K but well worth it (if you are really into music like I am) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

ok so in the end i did this:
JL Audio FiX82 OEM Integration DSP Processor

    JL Audio XD800/8v2 amplifier:
    - 2 channels to tweeters in doors
    - 4 channels bridged to 2 channels for midrange/woofers in doors
    - 2 channels bridged to 1 channel for OEM subwoofer

    Dynaudio System 242 Two-Way Set: includes 2 each MD102, MW162, and X 252
    - component speaker set
    - 162mm woofer
    - 102mm tweeter

    Dynaudio X252 2-way crossover:
    - additional set on top of the set which comes with the System
    - to be used on tweeters, solely, in order to bi-amp the component set so we can gain tweeter & mids independently + add additional power to midrange.

    Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX multimedia player
    1 PARTS Sirius SXV300 receiver
1 PARTS Steering wheel controls interface - imported from Italy
    1 PARTS Forward camera
    Trigger/Timer Module: Allows for video & nav-in-motion

    front camera works great!

I've listened to @ttforcefed 's setup- and it is absolutely fantastic! It has the kind of clarity you get when listening to the high end audio stuff in a room with good acoustics.
