Lately I've had a hard time finding cargo shorts I like, maybe the style left and left me stranded. I like loose fitting, above the knees long, and big pockets up top and on legs.

I had some good Under Armours couple years ago and the model number isn't available anymore. Seems like latest style is tighter straight fit without the leg pockets.

what other brands do you like? thanks.

Costco. Seriously. They're a little longer than above the knee, but wear well and last forever. I don't remember than brands, but they were companies I'd heard of.

The title was the best cargo shorts, not the cheapest!

Give these guys a look- Mountain Khakis. Lots of different styles and they wear like iron.

Thanks to whoever mentioned Mountain Khakis... I ended up buying a pair of pants, an MK hat, and an MK canvas & leather accessory case from a local sportsman's shop that stocks them. I may not have noticed them had they not been mentioned here.

I just got the Mountain Khakis in, I really really like them so far. Great fit, pockets, and durable material that isn't too thick.

Glad you like them. I'm not a huge fan of cargo pants, but I do like the ones with one small pocket on the outside of the right leg down low, this is perfect for a cell phone.

Local outdoor specialist retailer put all their MK stuff on sale... Be advised MK stuff runs about 2" small in the waist. At least, every pair of pants and shorts I tried on did. If anyboy has a size 28-29 waist, let me know... they've got plenty of size 30 shorts on sale for $20 and pants for $30!

I am loving my MK's! I'm not sure if they run 2" small, but my waist is running about 4" large! :D

    Thread revival time!

When this thread first appeared, I had never heard of the Mountain Khaki brand. I'd previously only worn Patagonia and Columbia. But, from the simple post of Norm512TR back in September, I gave the brand a try.

100%, no questions asked, this is an awesome product. I have two pairs of their regular khakis and two pairs of their cargo shorts. They wear like iron and have withstood any manner of activities that would normally destroy fabrics from Columbia. (And I like Columbia -- having worked there in the 90's, under the rusty St. Johns Bridge only a few steps down the hall from Gert Boyle). I think the MK might run about 1/2" smaller than other brands, but not enough (for me) to matter. I don't run them through the dryer. Just wash, and air dry.

Anyway, MK is just fantastic. Big props. Strong fabrics, great designs, and zero surprises with fit.

I wish their apparel was actually made in the USA, but I realize that ship has long since sailed... I've made my purchases directly from the MK website and the shipping speed is about 3-4 days. The stuff actually ships from Charlotte NC -- I assume that's where they warehouse things, and the Wyoming deal is just design/marketing.

Thank you Fchat for the recommendation!
