looking to get another watch ......... what watch would you recommend for a daily watch for less than $5,000. I have a Rolex DateJust II for the dress days and it has a lot of bling for the daily meetings . . . . any suggestions ???

are you looking for a chrono or something less complicated?

for a chrono in that price range you cannot go wrong with a omega speedmaster moon watch. I think it is also a mainstay of any expanding collection....

I wear my Omega Planet Ocean as a daily watch. It should come in at just under your price limit.

Get yourself a pre-owned Rolex Sub from a trusted reseller off The Rolex Forum (do not use ebay). $5k will be you a nice daily wearer.

That complements the DJ2 very well. You could also look at used Panerais.

I have a Ball watch that has been very rugged and reliable. It has tritium-filled tubes that glow in the dark so you can read the dial any time of the night. It was about $3K.

I had no idea Ball watches had tritium tubes. I like them on my Luminox as I can always see the time in the dark.

+1, Speedy Pro and Rolex Submariner are my daily watches, Speedy gets probably 80% of the wrist time, I just love the moon watch.

+2. I'm not a "watch guy," but my 2 nice watches are a Speedmaster Chronograph and a Rolex GMT Master II. They are too nice to wear to work however, so my daily is a $25 Casio.

Back to the OP's question though, there are 2 understated watches under $5K that I definitely like and think they would fit into the daily wear category: Tag Heuer Carrera chrono with the black rubber strap, and the Tag Heuer Monaco. I've always been a fan of both, but never purchased either one.

Wear the Datejust as often as possible. It is a wonderful watch in my opinion!

Other than that you may be right and I have been searching for similar reason for some time. Therefore lots of links, hope you don't mind:

I have a Ball Trieste in brushed Titanium. Its my weekend wear go-to. The lume is stunning.

If I had to do it over I'd get a polished stainless Ball because scratches can be buffed out perfectly.

I like it because its different from the norm and a US company.
