Relatively inexpensive, I mean. But still mechanical.

I have a pocket watch repeater, and an alarm watch a lot like a Memovox, but I would love a real minute repeater on my wrist.

    Perhaps under $10,000?

My Breitling Aerospace was a minute repeater, push in the crown for a tone.

Maybe not what you're after though....

You might find a quarter repeater or 5 minute repeater (check out Nivrel) in that range, but I think a full minute repeater might be a tough find in that range.

As definitelysomeday says, I would definitely check out the Nivrel.

There is one on Ebay now for $5500 in steel. That is a real steel.

I bought a Kelek 5-minute repeater in 1995 and I love it. Nivrel bought out the left over Kelek 5-minute repeater movements a few years ago when Breitling bought out Kelek. And the one on Ebay with a steel back is supposed to sound better than the see-through back ones like I have......and mine sounds great.

Think of it this way: At 12:59 the Nivrel will dong 12 times and ding-dong 11 times for a total of 34 dong, ding and dongs (if you count the ding and the dong individually on the 5 minute counter) A minute repeater will dong 12 times, ding-dong 3 times, and ding 14 times a total of 32 dong, ding and dong, dings (using the same logic of counting the quarter ding and dongs individually). So, if I've got my ding and dong straight and my math is correct, you really get more ding-dong per dollar with the Nivrel.

Plus, once you have the Nivrel, you can save up the rest of your life for a minute repeater.

I say go for the Nivrel. (No, I don't work for Nivrel)

I knew there was a brand I was forgetting. Kelek!!!

Steel back's resonate differently than crystals will, which is why the sound is different. I would imagine the steel back watch is a bunch louder.

    Matt,

Get an antique lady's size minute repeater pocket watch then have it recased as a wristwatch.

Movement core, restoration and casing should come in around $10K for a good watch with a name brand movement.

I've always wanted to do this but haven't gotten around to it.

    Regards,

    Art S.

    That's a good idea, Art.

I know just the jeweler to do it, too.

Since you are in PA, if you can come up with a movement, I will bet RGM will case it for you. They do custom work and Roland is a nice guy.
