hoping the folks here can point me towards a couple of watches I'm looking for:

    1) A dual time zone watch...I like the Rolex GMT and Explorer II, but wondering what else is out there...even in a traditional leather strap style. Budget is up to $8k or so.

    2) A watch with day and date, maybe even an annual calendar. Same budget (can annual calendar's be had for that?)

So, ideally I could find a two time zone watch WITH day and date showing (I guess for the "main" time zone) and cover both wants with one watch. Does such a watch exist? I think the Patek 5396G might be the dream watch there...seems to have a second time zone, annual calendar and moon phase...wow. Anything like that for, ummm...a lot less $?

Also, any ideas on best way to trade/sell my current watches (IWC Aquatimer with rubber strap and a titanium with black face omega seamaster with metal band, automatic).

Thanks...all suggestions welcome. (automatic watches only though).

    Hmm,
Lots of options. But if it were me (totally subjective and personal)...
    1) between an Explorer Ii and rolex GMT, I prefer the GMT. Go vintage which looks great on an original ss bracelet as well as a strap. Something from early late 60s/ early 70s. You can pick up a solid example with some patina and all to mostly original for under $9k. Check out Specialists in Vintage Rolex Watches | About Our Company. Jacek is a well respected dealer..I have no affiliation what so ever.
    2) for an annual calendar in your price range, I would look at JLC Master Calendar or JLC Reverso Grande Calendar (good examples on the used/gray markets for these can be had for under $10k). If you can move up to a Patek, great. That's a whole different league price wise ( and quality wise).

If you are not familiar with The Rolex Forum Rolex Forums - Rolex Watch Forum there are great Rolex and Non-rolex brands sold there. Use the Who's Who section to read reviews of quality and trusted sellers. There are many. But like ebay...buyer be ware. They will also take watches in trade. Wholesale prices at best but easier then selling yourself in most cases. Hope that helps.

    Good hunting!

Blancpain has a older Fifty Fathoms (Trilogy) GMT in that price range used.
They look good on straps or bracelets.
    100 hr reserve.

I don't poke around in here much but I have a nice automatic Sinn 756 UTC Dual time zone watch that I wear daily. It has served my very well. I am a leather strap person so I cant speak for the stainless band comfort. I am not sure what you would do with the extra money that you would save though. :)
