I have a favorite pair of loafers (from Nordstrom Rackthat cannot be beaten for durability, comfort, and my favorite leather texture and color. I have searched high and low for someplace to buy online but no luck, I think they are a NR house brand.

Well today I finally found the online link to buy them from Nordstrom Rack so I want to stock up with a few more pairs, in case they are NLA in the future.

What should I be mindful of if I store the brand new pairs of leather shoes I may not wear for up to 3 or 4 years?

You could just chuck them in a closet or drawer & be done with it - they should be fine for a few years. If you want to be anal? Wrap them in some form of acid free paper, seal them in zip-lock baggies, and then chuck them in a drawer or closet to keep them from light exposure. That should keep them fresh for at least a decade.

Pretty much this. I have several unworn Nike Air Force One sneakers from the 90's and they look pristine (they are much better than the modern ones IMO, looks and quality wise). I also wore some of them and they held up well.

I was a former sneakerhead, for those that care.

Pretty easy to tell, I rarely clean or shine the old pair! :D

Better be careful or I'll turn into that girl Jerry dated on Seinfeld with several of the same dress in her closet.

Had a favorite pair of Cole Haan loafers that looked similar to these a few years back. I have been unable to find anything similar that I like. Do you mind posting the link?

Yep, polish and then "tree" 'em. I still, on occasion, wear several pairs of shoes (not all at the same time ;) )that belonged to my Grandfather (circa '40's/'50's)

:D I just like what I like! The damn things fit good and look good and I feel good wearing em. I looked for years for the right loafers and finally found em.

If they weren't a house brand of a discount store, I wouldn't bother to hoarde.

During a visit to London years ago I treated myself to a pair of hand-crafted triple-welted blucher 'veldtshoen' (I think that meant field shoes) made of highest grade 'veal' (sounds fancier than calf, don't it?) and hobnailed about the heels. I wore them in winter weather when the snow wasn't deep enough to require boots. So the uppers are pretty beat up, though I haven't worn them for years now. I did treat them with leather conditioner and keep them on shoe trees. Could wear them today, though they are still very heavy. P.S. bought them in 1964 - exactly a half century ago. Longevity.

Short answer to your question: it will all depend on the quality of the leather.

I order mine at Nordstrom. Very sturdy and affordable.
