    A good friend of mine inherited this Hamilton watch from his grandfather and He'd like to know a bit more about it. It is a functioning, mechanical piece. Anyone familiar with these and what era it may be from? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    I love old Hamilton watches. High quality and made in the USA.

    My guess is that its late 30's through early 50's.

    The case is called the 'Norman'. Here is a similar one:

    The value is largely governed on whether its solid gold or not.

    If you need to know more pop the back open and take pictures of the movement and the inside of the back of the case.

    i would guess its a round movement-looks 30's or 40's to me. the expansion bracelet was not original, as i think it came on a leather strap from the factory. the crown also looks a little worn and if the watch is overhauled i would think about replacing it. its a great watch
