    Hey Fellas,
I just saw this watch in an advertisement in the Amex Departures magazine - it really caught my eye. Thought I would share it with you - dual time plus moonphase. A very handsome watch - I've been wanting to get a watch on a strap and had pretty much decided Patek until I saw this beauty! Enjoy!

I think that is just a day/night indicator at 9 on the sub dial. Either way it's a nice looking watch.

What Patek were you thinking about?

    Thanks for sharing this!

I think you're right about that - my bad.

Was looking at a Calatrava like the 5227. Nothing crazy - subtle but nice.

The cellini line is not autowind, its hand wind from what I remember. Years ago the rolex dealer told me these are really hard to sell, and don't retain value anywhere near what the subs/GMT's/etc do...

    Otherwise, nice watch :).

5227 vs the Rolex? Tough choice but a good dilemma to have! :D

Best of luck in your search

According to Rolex, the new Cellini models are mechanically self winding, and are certified chronometers. This might go a long way to helping them retain their value. I think they are a direct shot at Patek.

I considered this SAME watch but decided on the Patek since I've never owned one before. This is a nice Rolex but I guess I'm used to other models. Nobody notices a Patek as they do a Rolex and for me, its kinda nice to be below the radar. Of course this Cellini is not what most people consider a Rolex to look like. Either way, buy what you like, wear it and enjoy it.

    Update...
My Rolex AD called me this morning. I had asked him about this watch earlier this week, and he hadn't seen it. Today, he called and told me it was really beautiful (a bit of salesmanship, sure, but it really is pretty). He also told me it's Everose gold, not yellow gold as I had originally imagined. Though, now looking at the pic, I guess it is Everose.

Anyway, list is $19,400. So, substantially less than a new Patek (fwiw). I'm going on vacation next week and will use the time to decide if I should start negotiating on this piece or not. It would make a great, very different, addition to my collection of Rolex timepieces. We'll see. I'm not gonna go see it now - maybe when I get back...

I got this watch in white gold with black alligator band from my wife for Christmas. It is gorgeous.
