There's one for watches and shoes, why not pens, pencils, and other writing instruments? I collect various ones.

Today's pen: a Lamy 2000 with Mont Blanc Midnight Blue ink. Love the way it feels, love the way it clicks into place. Classic design.

I use a Pilot Vanishing point most days, in matte black. Great pen.

    Cool thread!

I gave up using fountain pens a while ago, but still like a nice pen. So, after looking around for a nice rollerball, I found a couple that I like.

One is the Karas Kustoms Retrakt and the other is the Tactile Turn Mover. Both are aluminum machined pens. Both accept a number of different refills, including the Pilot G2, which is what I use.

They are all metal pens (no plastic), including the Knock mechanism (which is made by Schmidt in Germany).

I use the Mover pen in the office, and the aluminum Retrakt at home. I also have a Brass Retrakt, which is nice, but a bit heavy. I keep that one in the garage at my workbench.

Here's a pic I took a while ago of the Mover (on the left) and the Retrakt (on the right).

Dom, I have one of the Karas Kustoms' Ink fountain pens. Such a great pen, but can be oddly weighted at times. The G2's, LOVE them. Damn. I have many in .3 and .4. The .3's don't work too well most of the time. The small tip digs into the paper and adjustments must be made in your style.

cwilson - lovely, but that's far from Basic. I have a basic Mont Blanc as well, which is well worn and carried many miles. Will post up eventually.

Identical Montblanc LeGrand Rollerball and Ballpoint. NEVER, EVER thought I'd spend $ for a pen, much less a Montblanc. But my bank gave me one for a Christmas gift and I found myself only using it. It was extremely comfortable, better balanced and wrote beautifully. So next, I found myself shopping for a rollerball as well.

I have a question.... My Rollerball cap doesnt "Snap" into place on the barrel (for writing). Its more of a pressure fit. I'm a little surprised at that. Does anyone know if that is normal? My ballpoint pen opens by just rotating the barrel so I have nothing to compare it to.

Haha great! Just when I was about to open a pen thread, this thread pops up. I recently purchased a vintage Montblanc model 221 and I absolutely love it. It is lighter than I thought so it took a little bit of adjusting. It is a cartridge type so I purchased the Montblanc cartridges in mysterious black and oyster gray. I was so excited about the purchase I even bought an original Montblanc pen holder. This is definitely the beginning of a pen collection as I already have my eyes set on a 1970's Carrera race edition Montblanc. I will post a picture of my current pen soon.

Today's is a well worn, and high mile Mont Blanc Meisterstuck.

With each Mont Blanc, there's always an occasion, and rarely to I ever run into someone with a Mont Blanc that doesn't have a story or an event behind the pen they acquired. When my brother graduated from SMU, I bought him one. At the time, they were much cheaper at sub 150 around '91. That price point is long gone.

This was my aunt's go-to pen. She was the one who would always send letters out to everyone for every birthday and holiday like clockwork. When she passed some ten years ago, I wanted to keep that pen and here it is.

I lways carry around my Lamy Safari fountain pen. I have 2, one with a fine nib and one with a medium. I usually carry the medium but these are wonderful pens. Not that expensive, but quite good and easy to carry around. Just don't let the ink dry too often...

Classic Cross pen, a gift from my parents when I started my first job. They've both passed away since then, but I've used the pen for the past 25 years at every job I've had. The sentimental value is worth more to me than any pen I could buy now.
