    Hello All!
    Thinking of Purchasing a new Vacheron from a boutique. Love the watch. 18k Rose Gold, 38mm. Ref #82172/000R/9888. Has a special guilloche dial for Boutique edition. Need some suggestion on the price as well as the value for this model in future. I was told it a special/limited but could not get a number how many of these will be made. Any input on this model is appreciated. Thanks.

    The boutiques exist because dealers were discounting the brands like crazy so they will try like hell to get full price. Like most other brands, it will lose a considerable value when you walk out the door, especially at retail. A/D's that still carry the brand will be weary of discounting since they won't want to lose the line, and they won't have the limited stuff.

    It ain't like it used to be.

    You can only get the boutique editions at the boutique, so they have no competition at all on boutique editions (other than another VC boutique). They aren't going to discount. So either you love the watch with the special dial enough to buy it, or maybe you can find a non-boutique edition you like enough at an AD and you will get a modest discount. Years ago when I was more into VC you could get great discounts on VCs...not any more. Great watches though. Wishing you luck!

    Almost all brands make special editions, AP, Patek, Panerai, IWC, Lange, Omega, etc.

    40mm isn't considered small for a dress watch, and even 38 isn't. Most of the top brands Patek, AP, VC, and Lange offer many dress watches ranging in size from 37-40mm. Perhaps you are thinking more about sports watches, many of which have gotten ridiculously large.
