    Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased my first Rolex. It has been years that I wanted one and finally I decided to go for a brand new Rolex GMT II.

I love it! It is so precise.

Do I need to worry about scratches on the buckle. It really scratches easy.

    Congrats.

It will scratch. Who cares, it will buff out at the service. Wear it and enjoy.

Thats one nice thing about a polished SS watch; easy to refinish when you are done with it.

Titanium, painted (excuse me; coated) and flat finishes another story.

    Hello Guys,

Thanks, I love this watch. For years I comptiplated on a Navitimer, but I am happy with my choice.

The accuracy of the watch is phenomenal. I set it against an aircraft GPS 4 days ago and it is bang on my last flight.

    Congrats Lino!! Great watch.

The Wife and I just picked up our first Rolex watches a few days ago also.

I might post a sneaky pick of them soon in the other watch thread.

Congrats and enjoy, I am looking forward to wearing mine come November.

Congrats! I have the same watch. Actually, with all my Rolex watches, I'm probably silly but I leave the plastic on the clasp and the case until they "naturally" fall off. That protects the finish a little longer.

But, the scratches can be worked out - just make sure somebody who knows what they're doing is on it.

    Hey Raj,

I know what you mean... I am going to take the advice and wear it in good health. Like I drive my Ferrari, I won't dillibertly abuse either or, but I won't get crazy.

My friend cuts out some plastic protection for the clasp. I am not going there myself.

I am already looking for Milgauss....

Great choice. You own one of the most perfect machines ever created. The more fine watches I buy, the more I appreciate my Rolexes. The hands and markers are such that reading and setting the time to the second is unmistakably easy. They are as solid and perfect as about anything else man made. The most abused, worn piece can easily be made new again with a little servicing and Rolex service is outstanding (compared to other watch companies which isnt saying much). The crowns and bezels and clasps are extremely well thought out and easy to operate. Generally they are extremely comfortable. Most likely, it will never fail you. They just keep going for generations. Congratulations.

The woman at the dealer asked if I wanted her to remove the plastic off the watches as there are some tricky placed ones she said.

I agreed, but then probably should have left the clasp area ones also as I had the same thoughts as you after she started to remove them.

Lol, all good. I will wear it and enjoy.

Man, I can remember the excitement when I got my first Rolex. You feel like you're the King of the World. It's an awesome feeling. Every time I put on one of my Rolexes, I get a snapshot of that feeling again. You can always have the scratches buffed out, or you can apply some plastic afterwards, totally your call. I think people (like me) who keep the plastic on as long as possible are probably in the minority.
Yeah, it's a gateway drug. You'll soon want more, more more...

It's helpful at avoiding some scratches, but I'm not gonna lie to you, you can tell there's plastic there if you're looking. Oh well...

I wore it to work today on several flights... lots places to hit in the cockpit but it was all good.

    Lots of compliments from coworkers.
