I'm looking to buy a new watch, and I love Seiko. Anyone have any reasons to avoid this series?

I'm looking at Seiko Premier SNQ143. Are these reliable and daily wearable?

    Thanks!

    Hej Nabo
Good choice. Any Seiko should be fine and last for a long time.
I have a similar piece but without the perpetual calender.
    Keeps within a few seconds/month.
Only thing I would suggest, personally I'm not happy for leather for daily wear.
I'd suggest a bracelet for daily and a leather for occasional.
Check out SNQ139. Very similar but on steel bracelet.

    Hei Jens!

I agree with you regarding steel bracelet, but I always end up with black leather strap because I like the look so much more.

I have read that these are extremely fragile (one drop and internals need expensive repair). Have you had any issues with yours?

My dad has one, steel bracelet though, and he loves it.

I don't think I've seen him wear his Rolex since.

No issues what so ever, but I don't use mine as much anymore.
Right now I'm using an SKX007 as daily beater.
    I swap a bit between steel/rubber/leather.

SNQ143 uses, as far as I can see, a Quartz 6A32 movement.
A quartz movement should not be "extremely fragile" and I think it should work fine.
A new 6A32 movement costs ~50$ or so, so any damage = cheaper to swap out the movement.
You can swap out the movement yourself. Its not super hard.

At this price point I think we are in the "consumable" segment, so might not be worth to repair?

I finally recieved it. Was out of country so I opted for the slow but free shipping. It looks very good! It certainly has presence without being flashy and I love that. Strap is a little hard but will probably soften over time.
