definitely the Lange. The AP is nice, but in the "new money bling" category, IMO. The Lange is a true connoisseur watch . The finishing, the off center dial, the whole thing screams fine craftsmanship. Used watches are also a wiser financial move. Most have been worn only a few times, but they tend to be half off.

Good luck with the decision. I would of course accept both into my 12 position winder.

I have the same color combo AP Safari and it is stunning. I see two different style here. AP is bold and sporty, I would not wear that with my formal wear. L&S is very formal goes well with formal wear including a tux.

The AP will have a larger audience when it comes to resale , plus it will be a much more durable watch Imho. I also agree with Luke buy one used.

The Lange is probably a manual. Great Watch!

Thanks for the advice. Apples and oranges indeed....hence the tough decision. I own mostly sports watches. I have one dress watch...Blancpain Flyback Chrono in rose gold. The Lange would make a nice addition.

I agree with the AP having a larger audience. I'm in the market for a Royal Oak.

Very different watches. The Lang is for the Board Meeting and the AP is for Saturday.

If I could only have one - I would probably go with the Lang. But let your collection be your guide. Which collection segment needs some new blood? Casual or Dressy?

As much as I want a Lange, I am going for the casual daily wearer AP for now and pick up a used Lange later next year.

The Lange, its craftsmanship is a notch above AP. I love the classic RO models, I'm not a fan of the Offshore. In addition there are too many Offshore limited editions, which IMHO dilutes the importance and meaning of a limited edition.

It really depends on what other watches you have in your collection. For myself, I would take the Lange...

I am partial to Lange & Sohne, I have a 1815 up and down, 18K white gold for every day (See picture and in need of a good polish) and a Lange 1 for social occasions.

BTW, Lange has a great story as a watchmaker thought the 1800's WWI, WII and Cold War. I visited their store in Dresden a few years back, beautiful showroom, nice people and when they saw I had my 1815 on, they laid out the red carpet, brought out coffee, met a watchmaker, small tour of the repair facility, nice treat.

i have both of them (and a couple of others) and i would say you have selected two nice options BUT are very different. In that, I wear my Langhe with suits and the AP as a casual watch with jeans or a sport coat and jeans. just my thoughts...

I actually like the previous gen Safari better. Could find a nice example for $13-14k.

ALS is a very classy watch though. All depends what you are looking for.

As with the above posters I agree with buying a pre-owned example unless you are looking to hold on to for some time.

If you want a Panda I could be convinced to sell you mine.

I paid $19.5k for my 2015 ROO Safari (new). I felt that price was more than fair.

AP is a better buy as far as resale value
and for the money by far the best sports watch you can buy

however the Lange if your looking for a patek quality dress watch
    is the better purchase
    apples to oranges
But if you would ever like to talk watches or have any questions

^^^^Thanks Chris. I now have the AP. My next question.....Lange 1 or Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Chronographe Q6011420 ? They both appear to be around the same price in the used market. I love the complication of the Duometre. Thoughts if you could only have one or the other ?

JLC and ALS are great brands and movements. ALS has the slight edge for me, but tough call.

Thanks...I wish some of those Richard Mille watches in your stable were in my financial wheelhouse. ;) I appreciate your input.
