Thought and prayers to the family of the 20+ victims who was gunned down in a bar called Pulse by a man name Omar Mateen, a US citizen leaved in st. Lucie who believe was a terrorist from Afghanistan.

Dead toll now over 50, with 53 in area hospitals.

What is puzzling, is that if he was out to kill as many people as possible, he was off by a week. Last weekend was the annual unofficial "Gay Days" at Disney. The club that got shot-up this morning would have been packed with more people!

Just incredible that Orlando had two international shooting incidents a day apart.

    It's a horrible situation.

How is it that this guy got into the club with a fully automatic weapon, a hand gun and
    some sort of explosive device?

Was there no security at this place?

The guy worked for a security company. Maybe he used his badge.

    My hometown. :(

Not much security at nightclubs in Orlando. They really only have it on certain nights that are known to draw rowdy crowds.

So sad. Luckily, I don't think I know anyone who was killed or injured.

Where did they say it was fully automatic? I guess you think that the media incorrectly calling an AR15 an "assault weapon" means that it is full auto. Please tell me you are not that uninformed.

It was a semi-auto AR15. Do you know what that means?

No more debate here, just sick of hearing the misinformation about "machine guns" being legal and easy to get.

Legal? Yes, with lots of money, paperwork, extensive background check and about a 6 month wait. Easy? No, not in any sense of the word.

I'd like to know how he was able to get into the club carrying an AR-15 type semi-auto weapon. There is no way he could have concealed it. Was there no one at all at the door? Did he enter through a side door? Hopefully this information will come out in time.

Precisely who do you think was going to stop him?

    Walk up to security guy.

    BANG!

    Walk into club.

Media says shooting started out front--so likely that Security was not enough to stop a determined insane person.

Listening to the uninformed politicians, a completely biased media and their sheeple followers is frightening. I live in the NYC area and the complete lack of knowledge on all fronts on this topic is scary. Before an intelligent debate can be had facts need to be established, something that is impossible in today's social media age. Sensationalism rules, investigative reporting is dead. Sad for all of us but more so for future generations....

Not a funny subject, but you made me laugh. The only way to stop someone with an AR-15 is someone else with an AR-15. Most of the clubbers didn't know what was happening until the music stopped. Then it was too late for far too many. Two horrific events in the same town. Scary that it could happen anywhere.

While funny, that is unfortunately pretty accurate. In Florida, bars, nightclubs, and etc are all gun free zones, so there really wasn't any way for anyone there to stop him.

Off duty officer engaged him as he walked into the club, along with backup. They weren't able to take him down, though there is no mention of body armor so im guessing just couldn't get a shot at him.

That's the way it sounds... At the entryway to a club that was letting out its customers (2AM, "Last call...") I would imagine that there wasn't a clear target.

4: Always confirm your target, as well as what’s in front, behind, and around it.

We were in downtown Disney the night before the shooting. At Epcot the next day. I have a friend who's a flight attendant. One of her co-workers lost 5 of his friends.
