After reading the EVO mag article on best analogue supercars - F40, F50, CGT, McLaren F1, Noble M600, Pagani Zonda, LP 670-SV, this got me thinking....I'd like to own ALL of them. But realistically, these cars do seem to represent purity of driving. These cars capture the essence of the raw driving experience.
Are there any other cars you feel that do this for you?

For me my list of Realistically owning and wanting is this:

    Lotus Elise/Exige
    CS
    Scud
    997.2 GT3RS (4.0)
    Noble
    Ford GT
    CGT
    BAC Mono

I'm sure there are many more...
I'm starting my dream with the acquisition of a CGT. I'd like either a FGT or CS next.
I'm going to have to rob a bank for an F40, F50 or F1

Not supercars, and from a different era, but among the cars I've owned....

    Lotus Elan
    BMW 2002
    330GTC
    any air-cooled Porsche
and the 550 Maranello, although it isn't as analog as I'd like.

I haven't found the EVO article regarding analogue supercars so I'm confused by the definition. To me, "analogue" would be no computer assist with maybe a small exception for fuel injection.

For me, the term would be NO electronics, including fuel injection....unless it is completely mechanical/electrical like the old Corvette one.

Probably the most analog car there is considering that is 900+ years old. Agreed.

Just givin' you a hard time, Lee. ;)

Yes the 900 yr old M3 is a classic :)

But you're right - the E30 M3 was the first of its kind.
I'd really like to look into a 2002 now - will add these two to my list.

Any type of traction/stability control takes it out of the analogue category IMHO.

I really dislike the drive by wire throttle control used in all newer cars. Don't like the way the throttle response changes for different situations.

I have a first generation Miata with no power steering or abs as my fun/track car and absolutely love it. Obviously not as exciting as those listed above, but considering i'm in my 20's and just bought a house/got married in the last month, I decided to put more $$ into my down payment on my house rather than my second car which has now set me up to add something a bit more fun within the next year or so!!

    I adore analog cars.

The most incredible one I have personally driven is the lotus élan. It is the closest thing I have driven to an open wheeled car on the street. If you want to know the definition of handling, drive an élan.

I recently acquired a 1973 mgb, which a friend and I are now restoring. No power steering or brakes. No radio and 2 carbs. 4 fuses in the whole darn car. It is the most enjoyable car I have ever owned and it a unbelievably inexpensive to run.

Personally, I think the best analog cars strictly from a smiles per mile are the British sports cars from the 60s and 70s. Nowhere near the best performing cars but monumentally entertaining.

    Just my .02

I think IMHO the Caterham 7 is as "analogue" as it gets today.

Best car that looks analogue but isn't would be a Singer 911. My pick for real analogue car would be a carbed fiberglass 308 gtb.

Sorry about that. When I bought this M3 it had looks that showed an atitude and what a drive. I drove it everywhere with sheer delight.

Surprising I hought a 2013 M3. I did not like the car. The handling was not as much magic although good. The power was only 411hp. I only kept the car2 months pr so. The Audi R8 is a better car in every way.

When I bought it, the dealer told me power upgrades were plentiful and cheap. The numbers he quoted me when I came back to the dealership to upgrade where not really available and the one tuner price he gave me was 10 times higher than the numbers given me when I bought the car.
This was when the new model came out they maybe be available now, who knows. I have never gone back to that dealership.

    Best,
    Lee

    I vote for E30 M3 Sport Evo (2500cc)
And McLaren F1 (okay, maybe not too analog)

Hey, both have BMW engines :)

Granted, I've never driven one (and sadly probably never will drive one), but I can't imagine anything cooler than a 250 GTO. They check all of my boxes and I honestly have dreams about them.

Of course, here in reality, my 348 leaves me with no complaints! I have to agree with the votes for the early P cars, too.

1966 Sunbeam Tiger, No PS Has PB , No Radio, 1 carb and only 2 fuses. Gotta love Lucas electrical design.

Best part is 8 cylinder and dual exhaust. Really adds to the British car experience.

How about a Porsche 914 / 914-6. Light weight, a carbed flat-6 (in the 914-6). Simple, direct, and fantastic handling.

Then again I may have bias.

Anything with a stick shift and manual rack and pinion steering works.
