Will they offer the new USA-spec S Coupe in diesel?

550 reflected the 5.5 liter N/A engines from 2007+ before they switched to the TT engines. MB deduced that displacement bragging rights hold more weight than the 500 designation, similar to BMW's move from 745 to 750.
Also, S460 sounds like a downgrade compared to the S550 of the current gen, so the numbers will won't come back down to accurately reflect engine displacement.

Same story with the current AMG TT engines that displace 5.5 liters (labelled as 63).

Absolutely. Nothing beats a diesel in a luxury car or SUV. They have tons of torque where such vehicles are driven 99% of the time, are super quite and get great fuel economy. My wife drives a MB GL350 oil burner and we both love it. Another benefit is that MB diesels cost less new than their gas counterparts, but have a higher resale value used. Our 2011 GL350 was several thousand dollars less than a 2011 GL450 when new, yet is now worth more than a 2011 GL450 used. And, we can go 800+ highway miles on a tank of fuel.

I can understand in an SUV or limo service using S-Class or 7 series diesel but not in a luxury GT.
Even the best diesel sounds either horrible or too quiet (better solution).
Driven modern diesels (MB cabriolet in France,A8 TDI) and hated them the same.
No matter how good they are, they can't compare to a gas V8 or V12 in refinement and performance.
I wish they were banned from trucks and buses (ever got stuck behind a school bus stopping every 300 ft?).
I still have nightmares from the time I was sentenced to drive a 200D back in late 70s...

Correct. Shows how dumb the average person that can afford a $100k+ car is that they would need to play such silly mind games.

its a useless niche. theres already e class convertibles and if you really want a luxury coupe you could get a cl

now the new ener-g-force concept is something that looks like a ton of fun!

most people is the range looking for a lux coupe are looking at Bentleys anyways

S coupe will replace the CL. And E coupe / conv is a completely different car.

I'm very interested in the S coupe, and have a CL 63 now.

LOL! Sure, sure. The S Coupe is replacing the CL. Or rather, I should say, the CL used to be the S Coupe in the early 90s. In 1996 they changed the S Coupe to CL. I for one am glad they're going back to calling it what it really is.

Have you had any ABC issues with your CL63?

One hydraulic line cracked. It wasn't very expensive to replace.

The brakes and tires, however, are extremely expensive!

The ABC issue is common to leak, my '09 has a slight leak that is being repaired this week when it gets services.

Thanks for the reply as well. Really is a shame that MB hasn't got the ABC system working yet.
