I think 1967 was a great year for cars. The engines had gotten more powerful by then and every car had a unique style to it. Curious, if you could buy any car that was made in 1967, in like-new condition, which car would you buy? ----------- My choice would be the 1967 Lamborghini Miura. Always thought it was one of the most beautiful cars every made. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
The question is own and drive-not just look at- For some reason I gathered up some of the best 67 had to offer: Ferrari GTC Corvette coupe 911S Cobra XKE Hemi Coronet Pontiac GTO Lamborghini 400GT Shelby GT350 I owned most of these at the same time so I have a pretty good idea of how they compare. As thrilling as the Cobra was I could never get comfortable in it and just didn't feel I could fully extend its capabilities, a superstar though The GTC was of course, a wonderful device and, IMO, the best of the bunch money being no object the Corvette is fast, sounds great, shifts fantastic, looks spectacular and is easy to own XKE is smooth, classic styling, drifts nicely, sounds delightful and not as tempermental as expected Pontiac-great fun, handles pretty good, Tri-Power awesome, quality built musclecar, tough Lamborghini was the best sounding of the group, smooth, great GT and a build quality as good as the 330 or better Shelby looked great, handled well, loved the inboard headlights, sounded cool The Hemi is one menacing ride, understated and powerful at the same time, massive power, great sound, fair handling, open road performance was impressive with room for four 911 perfect size and visibility, best in the canyons, willing partner and best steering feel I guess I have a thing for that era.
First choice would be a 275 GTB 4. Second a 1967 Mustang Fastback. Shelby would be nice, but not required.
Yes, the 1967 Corvette was the last year of the C2 Mid-Year cars. The only year that came with the "stinger hood" as an option and the 5 slits on the side of the front fender. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't forget this one......but I'd take a Miura, or a Ford GT40 MK III Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Slight aside, but how many GT 40 Mk III cars were built? I seem to remember 7. Good choice, though! Can I retract my DB 6 nomination & steal the GT 40?
J-5 67 GT40 Mk.IV http://www.lemans.org/wpphpFichiers/1/1/ressources/Image/actualites/2013/24-heures-du-mans/03/ford/2013-03-04-ford-mk4-5.jpg IIRC, tubs finished in 67, so I could suffer with P/1075 instead, despite racing debut in 68 http://gt40.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/GT40-P-1075-ford-museum-004.jpg
Other than the prime examples already mentioned, I've always liked the '67 Eldorado. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
