Tesla has just introduced the new TESLA 4 wheel drive with a separate engine for the front and rear axels. This car is capable of going zero to 60 in ..........3 seconds. I know that electric motors have immediate torque but this is just astonishing. It will be interesting to watch if the customer is able to control this kind of acceleration.
Basically a facelift model s? I liked the p85 a lot. Looking forward to this one. D is not a favorable name though
My daily driver is the Model S. The continuous acceleration is insane and always fun to bring unsuspecting passengers for a ride.
I wonder what two electric motors will do for the mileage. Has there been any word of an upgraded battery?
As I have read somewhere. It is not about how fast you go, it is about how you go fast. With all due respect a tesla is a very nice car but even if you cover with gold and you put a battery powered rocket inside making it go from 0 to 60 in 0.5 sec, at the end it is still a tesla and not a Ferrari. After you own a Ferrari you understand it is not all about speed. It is much more than that, much more! All the best.
That Tesla exhaust note is to die for. But the BMW i8 is better looking and much more practical. Can you say 125 miles per gallon??? And why is this thread in the 458 Forum??? Best
The 0-60 is great. There's no doubt about that. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds for a sedan? Fantastic. The 1/4 mile? woeful at 11.8 especially considering the 0-60 time.
Exactly....that's why I passed as well. No sound, low emotion. A bit like GTR's before the exhaust systems came out. I run an accord hybrid as a DD and its 1/4 the price. Oh, no charging needed and gets 700 mike range. But the 0-60 is, well, who cares. I have a 458.
Bought an ELR. Certainly not as fast as the S but I always pass them up as they are pulling into the Supercharger and 300 miles later I still can't see them in my rear view mirror.
The mere presence of this thread speaks volumes for the future - our future. We all speak of the Ferrari "experience", but what is it?. Of course, for many of us it is the "feeling" one gets driving this great piece of machinery. We have also been influenced by Ferrari's racing history and the peosnalties assocated with it. The technoogical age (look around any airline waiting room and find someone not looking at their phone or othe device even if seated with a loved one or family), redefines "relationships". Personal loyalty is all but non existant and who has taken the time to read about anyones history? There is so much information to process and so much competition (as machines drive us instead of the otherway around) that it is hard to imagine even 10 years from now, us having this conversation. When Tesla (et.al,) offers an option of "artificial sound" ( presuming laws are not passed eliminating sound entirely), and offer a carry on board charger, life will change forever. Yes, I know the "feeling", but as we "advance" technologically, fewer seem to feel anything. Best
I agree. I have driven the tesla many times and the feeling of the torque is amazing. The throttle response is crazy aswell and I am sure that with time the handling will get better once suspension kits are commonly available. Dont forget that this is a new concept of car and still in its baby shoes eventhough it already is a whole new level. The greatest benefit of the Tesla is also its weak point: the sound. obvious weak point is the lack of emotion from a petrol car for sound but the greatest benefit is that no cop will hear you and you can actually have fun with it. Get a black one and just turn lights off in dark when you see a cop posted
