interesting...RM Sothebys is auctioning one in Detroit in a few weeks, estimate $300-350k. 370 miles, red/white stripe. 2005 Ford GT | Motor City 2015 | RM Sotheby's
You are truly a master of internet research... I commend you! Funny name for a car dealer....BJ Motors
Funny you mentioned this. My buddy and I were just discussing the major drop in pricing on all FGTs today. It's non just the heritage cars either.
If you think that's something, check out this piece of work I put together yesterday. The wife and kids are away on a cruise, so I'm bored here at home alone!
That's owned by a very good friend and Fchtter. He has another identical one that he drives a fair amount.
IMO The market is about to take a break. Possibly worries over a new president and which way the economy will turn when new said pres takes over Prices will receed temporarily Just like poker Gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em.
Perhaps we will look back on this thread in future years and conclude that July 2015 marked the canary in the coal mine for the classic car market. But that's really for the 74 page "bubble" thread to determine. Time will tell.
Methinks you're correct. Low interest rates, nosebleed Chinese stock market, surging real estate... the party will end.
Not necessarily a bad thing for the overall market. I also wonder if the announcement of an upcoming new FGT will have, if not already happening, a negative speculative effect. I prefer versions that are more directly connected to racing. With Ford's plan to race the new FGT in Le Mans 2016, the "tribute" model will be sandwiched between the genesis model and the latest model - both of which will have direct race heritage.
The "tribute" raced. They made several thousand, and so there should always be at least one available? Even 399,995 is better than double '06 MSRP - though less than the rumored ask of the newer, of which they plan to make fewer.
With the solid info on this FGT and the Testarossa's...I have to say here in Europe I've seen many F40's, Carrera GT's and Enzo's for sale for a long time. Some have moved their price up in conjunction with the prices rising but they've never actually sold. CGT's doubled in value in just a few months time. I wonder where we'll be at next year? Prices raised even further with the same cars for sale or will the prices be lower, and cars moving at those prices? I hope for the latter, keeping the speculators out. Hopefully they got a kicking too...
It has been discussed on Rennlist that the CGT's doubled in price going from dealer to dealer without an actual real retail buyer.
I never understood the prices for a paint scheme on the Heritage cars. And the production numbers on the other cars does not in my mind support the way above sticker pricing.
I live just a couple of moments away from where this eBay'er is based. This isn't a typical "Dealer". It isn't an open showroom. It is a guy that is a true car guy and does some "Different" things. He buys and sells stuff quite a bit. He had a massive Viper collection for some time. He had almost every variant made.
I have a feeling when the new GT pricing is official, it will make these 2005 - 2006 cars look like a bargain
